To find and use a free text expander in Mac OS 10 Lion follow these steps:
Go to System Preferences and click on Keyboard. Scroll down until you find Input Sources and click. From there click the second tab Titled Text.
This is where you can add all your own items to be expanded and what you want them to expand to.
After that open Safari and go to the Edit Menu tab. Scroll down until you hear substitutions. Ensure that text replacement is checked and you are good to go.

For a video tutorial of this visit YouTube.com and search Hello my name is Michael text expander.
