Description of App
Accessible Match 3 Game
Swap gems on the board to create lines of 3 or more of the same gem color. Each level needs you to destroy a number of gems of each color. But each swap will cost you one move. When you run out of moves, the game is lost.
This game is accessible for visually impaired users and can be played without using your eyes.
All menus and the game screen are navigated using swipes and double taps. Instructions can be found in the main menu. If accessibility doesn't turn on automatically, you can enable the accessibility mode by tapping the screen three times with three fingers.

This game has an accessibility mode intended for blind players. The controls might be confusing if you have never used a phone with accessibility features turned on.

I have been waiting for a game like this. The only thing I miss is special tiles. The accessibility is splendid. It is a really cool game.
well, i dont somehow get the swapping thing. and this english voice is Quite annoying, and i think, the game is Quite slow when you swipe around. i would prefer the voiceover than this voice.
I downloaded this game this afternoon and love it. Would it be possible to slow the speech down just a little?

Meh, Color Crush is still better, although I like the sounds better in this game. I like the fast speech rate, but don't like how you can't customize anything. It's like playing with VoiceOver hints on all the time, and you can't make a move until the game finishes talking. I googled last night and found a blog post from the dev who said the game is just a wa to test the unity accessibility plug in and that there are things that still don't work yet, like being able to read everything at once. So while the game itself isn't a replacement for something like blindfold color crush, it's a proof of concept to show that unity can be made accessible in some cases, which could hopefully lead to more mainstream games being made accessible for us.
I love this game, and I'm okay with the fast speech rate. However, I also think this game is still incomplete.
A game without a settings menu and a highscore list, for me, is a bit boring.
Hi! I recently downloaded Blindie Match, and, even though I am not keen on the Samantha voice and i found that the swipes don't work too well if they are done too fast, I like this game. As some people have pointed out here, there are several ways in which this game could be improved: however, if it's just an experiment, that might not happen. I still enjoy Blindie Match, though, in spite of the fact that it can't be customised and doesn't save high scores.
I like the game, however I agree with all of you who like Candy crush, blindfold colour crush is 94.86 percent as great as candy crush. If there were a settings menu, speech customization dialog and sound scheme importation feature, that'd be good.
I just found this thread - I'm the developer of the game.
From what I've read, the selected voice and speech rate seem to be a big issue. I'm already working on fixing that. It might be impossible to use the system's selected voice and speech rate (because that information seems to be hidden to apps), but I'll try. If it's a no go, I'll add an options menu which allows the speech rate to be adjusted at least.
As an addendum - currently the app should use the default voice from the iOS settings. These are NOT the VoiceOver settings, however. The system voice is set under General - Accessibility - Speech.
But changing this is only a partial solution, because the speech rate is still ignored.
I'm working on a fix, at least for the speech rate.
I just submitted a new version to the App Store. The app is currently in review and should be online in a few days.
The ingame speech rate can now be set in the game's settings. The app will at the moment use the voice that's selected in the system settings.
For all other menus VoiceOver is used.
I also added a high score, which can also be found in the settings menu.

Apple just approved the new version, which now uses the VoiceOver voice and also supports gestures for "Read from Top" and "Read from Current Element" - two finger swipes up and down.

I downloaded this game two days ago and have been meaning to play on my iPhone 7 Plus but, However, I am having trouble playing this game. When I double tap on the first gem and try to double tap on the next one which is of the same color, it will only say that I have one less move but it will not play the tone that lets me know that the swapping has been made. I keep trying but at the end it only tells me that I failed. Is anybody else having this problem? Can someone tell me how to play this game? Thank you in advance.
When you swap gems, you will make the two gems swap their places. You need to try and get three of the same type next to each other. This can either be in a horizontal row or in a vertical column. So swapping gems that are already of the same color will have no practical effect.
Try swapping gems of different color to move the one you want to a different place, where you can build a matching set of 3 right next to each other.

how many levels does it have? or it ends when you cant do the required goal of the given level?
There actually are no consecutive levels in this game. There are just three difficulty modes: Easy, Medium and Hard. When you start a game, it will generate a random level based on your chosen difficulty.
I've never given actual levels or a campaign mode much thought. It is an intriguing idea though, just like the special tiles that were suggested in an earlier post. But I don't have any definite plan or idea on how to add any of this in at the moment.
I just redownloaded this and I like it much better since the new update. A couple suggestions and a question though. Is there a reason why the game can't use VoiceOver speech in the game board? That would make it much easier, though it is good that it does at least use the voice set in iOS speech settings. That is infinitely preferrable to the way the blindfold games use to customize their speech. As for my small suggestions, what about a way to turn off the in-game music, and a way to turn off the in-game hints that tell you to double tap to select a gem. That would make the game more fluid for those of us who already know how these types of games work.
Hi Brian, thank you for all the feedback. I think I will make another update to the game next week to add in some of the things I collected on my TODO list so far.
By the way, I turned VoiceOver off on the main game board, because it has the side effect of lowering the game's overall sound volume. After the voice is done speaking it takes another moment for the volume to return to normal. As a result, the sounds wobble between quiet and loud all the time, which was more than just a little distracting during play.
I especially like your idea of suppressing the spoken hint "Double Tap to select" on the game board via a setting in the settings menu. It makes a lot of sense.
You can turn the game music off by the way, it just isn't in the Settings menu yet. This is one of the things I want to update. Right now, to turn off the music, you double tap with two fingers while your inside a game (Magic Tap). This will bring up a pause menu. Here you can exit the current game and turn off the music.
The new version of this game is great. I am having lots of fun with this game. You are doing and excellent job, Michelle. I can only imagine how difficult it must be trying to make these games accessible for the blind community. Thank you for your effort and your time. Thank you for making this happen. This game is so awesome, I would not mind paying a couple of bucks for it in the app store. Please keep developing this game and make it better and better every time. I would love to see this game having many levels to make it more challenging as you progress into the game. I love the sound effects and The music. Blindie Match has great potential.

The idea to make actual progressive levels, that get harder as you go along is something I quite like. I keep designing this in the back of my head, and once it is fully fleshed out, I will come back and make it happen.
There will be another update before that, containing a few maintenance updates. It will improve the swipe and flick detection, which is kind of sluggish at the moment. It was also requested to have Touch Explore active on the game grid, and I might add that in as well, or at least make it optional in the Settings. I don't have a release date yet, because I'm busy fulltime fixing a few bugs on the Crafting Kingdom game first.

I really love this game and progressive levels is a brilliant idea.
Michelle, Apple has a feature in VoiceOver called audio ducking. This feature makes any sounds quieter whenever VoiceOver starts speaking, then returns them back to their original volume once VoiceOver has stopped speaking. I have this feature permanently turned off, since I find it annoying. You can find this in Settings/General/Accessibility/VoiceOver/Audio/Audio Ducking.
Shersey, thank you, now I learned something - I didn't realize that that this was configurable! Well, that's great news.
I think I might add a toggle into the Settings then, allowing to choose whether or not to use VoiceOver on the game grid as well. That would give the most freedom to everybody.
I am also looking forward to more levels during gameplay as this will make the game more challenging, and enjoyable, at the same time.

I love this game and I enjoy it as much as I enjoy Crafting Kingdom.

Hi everyone, I just submitted an update for this game to review. It's not a big update, but it addresses a few of the issues I have received feedback about.
Here's the list of changes:
- Swipe Detection much improved, now using native swipes
- Pause and Music Toggle buttons at the bottom of the in the main game screen can now be selected with Touch Explore
- Gameplay now uses VoiceOver voice instead of system voice, if VoiceOver is enabled
The update will be available for download as soon as Apple approves it, which might take 1 to 3 days.
It is good to know that a new update is on their way.
Hopefully, in a future update, levels can be added to this game. I really love this game and I would like to see it getting better and better every time.
Please, Michelle, I would like to be added to the beta testers group for this game as well.

Hi everyone, the update is now released.
I'm not currently running an active beta on this game, but I will once I have reworked it a little to add more levels and a bit of a meta game to it. I don't have an ETA for this yet, though. It's just something i am designing in my head at the moment.
It is working great. Swiping has really improved.
while playing this excellent game last night, I ran into a bit of difficulty when trying to destroy 13 gems. There only appeared to be 13 of the specific gem on the board therefore I was unable to destroy 13 gems by matching three in a row. I'm not sure if this is just me being an idiot. :-)
I was also wondering if it would be possible to create a bonus for matching three gems in a row as you already have bonuses for four and five gems in a row.

whenever you match 3 or more gems, they get removed from the board and new gems fall in from the top. So even if you should start out with less gems of one color that you need to complete the level, you will get more by matching up gems and making space for new ones. You might need to match gems of a different color to make room, though! You can also just swap gems,without creating a match of three or more. That way you can move gems across the board to where you need them.

Yes, if you go into Settings and Accessibility, you will see a speech rate button.
I seem to be having a problem when I try to swap gems. Sometimes I have to double tap several times before I can get the swap to work. Am I doing something wrong or are other people having this problem?
the current version of this game that is live in the store uses an obsolete method of detecting swipes, which is unfortunately very unreliable and unresponsive. I've updated the code since, but haven't yet made another update to the game to address the issue.
I don't know why I didn't hear about this game earlier, but I don't need levels. I'm fine with the way it is. Puzzles are randomly generated based on difficulty, and that's good enough for me. Some puzzles are easier than others, so each new game is different. I think I even prefer this to Color Crush, but I'd have to compare. I've reviewed the game in the App Store, too.
I definitely appreciate Michelle's taking the time to both make it and polish it. It doesn't need much more in the way of improvements, I think. I just hope it's kept up to date with new iOS versions.
