question about speech central and generating audio

Hello!
I'm using speech central on the Mac.
I'm trying to generate audio with the Siri voices but they aren't showing up in the list. How do I generate audio with these? Thanks.

Are there new things for Braille in iOS 16?

Hi, some buddy checking the Braille in iOS 16?
there are any new bug or enhancement's?

Question About Multitrack Recording

I have been using Amadeus Pro for many years to produce my podcast and some other audio content. I have a Behringer XYNEX Q1202 mixer, which is a analog mixer with a built in USB interface. It has 12 inputs (4 mono and 4 stereo) and a 2 channel (stereo) output. When I have a guest, I pan myself hard left and my guest or guests hard right. I then separate the two stereo channels into 2 tracks for editing. As the format of my podcast is evolving, I find myself getting into more situations…

Changes in voices

There is a change in Eloquence which is a long time coming! It now pronounces most of words concerning Apple products correctly. Example is iPhone, among many others. There is also a change in Alex. He sounds like he does on macOS for a while. These are quite wonderful!

New VoiceOver features in iOS 16 beta

Hello all, previous topics I have seen on here talk in length about new voices, and new features for VO on the Mac. However, here, let's discuss what did you find in VoiceOver that's new in iOS 16? Before I start, a small disclaimer, this is beta software, meaning that any of this could be changed, modified or even entirely removed in the next update if it is found to be too unstable. I will do my best to update the post if that ends up being the case, but for users not on the beta, don't…

Announcing Changes to Our Guidelines Regarding Discussion of Beta and Preview Versions of Apple Software

We periodically review the guidelines that we ask members of our community to respect in their use of the AppleVis website. This involves evaluating whether existing guidelines remain necessary and appropriate; are in the best interests of our community; and that they also reflect the current wishes of the majority of our community.

With public betas for iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, tvOS 16, HomePod software version 16, and watchOS 9 coming soon, we decided that it was timely…

Any recommendations for a hard case for my new MacBook Pro 14, 2021?

Hi,

I'm looking for something to protect my new MBP 14 inch from bonks and dings, a plight that I'm sure many of you can indeifty with.

My ideal would be a leather case that opens and remains in place around the computer, like some big sexy wallet... But I don't think that this exists.

Reading the descriptions of cases, sleeves and shells, I think that the latter is the only one that is permanent protection. I did have one for an old computer which had a…

Install the beta profile on my iPad six GEN

Hey everybody, I have installed the beta profile on my iPad Pro six Gen and the latest update is 15.6. Did I install something wrong? I installed it directly from the Apple Beta website so that I could test out the public betas of iOS 16.

voiceover voices switch on audible.com on m1 mac running big sir, help

Hi,
I got a mac mini for Christmas, and love it, and I've actually had the issue I'm about to describe since then, but I can't find a solution anywhere else. Ok, so this is what happens, I go to audible.com, and voiceover uses Tom, which is my default voice, but when I browse books by heading, it autoswitches to the Alex voice, which compared to Tom seems to be really quiet through the mac mini speakers, although it's the same volume. Plus, it's just really…

How to read with Voice Dream Reader on Mac using either arrow keys or VoiceOver cursor?

This one's most probably trivial, but how the heck can I read with VoiceDream reader using either arrow keys or VO cursor? Since my book is technical, I don't want to read it like an audio book.

Easily connecting to multiple braille displays

All:

I use multiple Bluetooth braille displays with my iPhone. I am looking for an easy way to switch between displays. Currently, if I connect to display 1, and then connect to display 2, in order to go back to display 1, I have to go into Settings, Accessibility, Voiceover, Braille and double tap on the display I want to use. There has to be an easier way to do this. Shouldn't Voiceover look for the last couple of displays which have been pared and connect to the first one…

Anyone have experience with Google's Live View walking directions?

Hi Folks,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using Google's Live View walking directions (these use your phone's camera to more accurately position yourself than would be possible just using GPS). As a sighted person, I tried using it and even with VoiceOver on it didn't seem like the feature was designed to be accessible non-visually.

I'm wondering if folks have experience with either using Google Live View with a screen reader (or…

Google News Headings on Mac Safari

I used to navigate http://news.google.com using VO+Command+H to jump by headings. This has stopped working recently, and since Safari hasn't changed, I assume it's a change at Google's end that has somehow exposed a defect in VoiceOver web navigation.

To reproduce, go to http://news.google.com in current Safari. Then use VO+Command+H to jump by heading. I expect to hear VoiceOver read the title of…

Maths symbols announced in greek language on Voiceover on Mac

Hi all, I've got some maths questions, and VO is announcing symbols like degrees and pie in a different language. For example π doesn't come up as py. Is anyone else having this issue? if so, is there any way to have VO announce the symbol as py?

Managing Wordpress Sites with VoiceOver

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to using VoiceOver, but it would seem to me that Wordpress, at least desktop browser versions, aren't very accessible. I know the mobile Wordpress app makes things significantly easier, but am having trouble with my web host server. I wanted to see what other solutions or advice people in the community are using. TIA.

Orbit Slate... Multi line brail devices

Hi, everyone,

I found this a couple of days back which I thought might be interesting for IOS and Mac brail users:

https://www.einnews.com/amp/pr_news/579292201/orbit-research-introduces-the-orbit-slate-family-of-multi-line-braille-displays

In short, it's the orbit brail reader with extra lines. I'm personally interested in…

Using the keyboard on the Apple Watch Series 7

Hello everyone.

I have just taken delivery of my new Apple Watch series 7, stainless steel 45 mm. With the new qwerty keyboard that I know is now available, can I slide to type, or, can I use direct touch typing as we can on the iPhone using VoiceOver? This does not seem possible, and seems quite frustrating to use. I also assume, that the always on display, will not really benefit those who have no site, so it is worth turning off?

Thank you,
Will.

Seeking a lightweight, wired headset, preferably over ear or around ear

Hi,
I'm actually seeking recommendations for this headset for my aunt, I'm her go-to tech person. Anyway, all of my headsets are either expensive, heavy, and bluetooth, or a combination thereof. So what she wants is a simple, no-frills pair of around-ear, or on-ear wired headphones that she can use to watch her movies on her computer. She's a PC user, who isn't very techy, so I can't in good concience recommend a bluetooth model.
Do they even make wired…

Problem with YouTube app on my iPad

Hello all,
I am using an iPad 11 inch pro running the latest iPadOS version. When I expand the description section in the youtube app I cannot get any of the links to work. Has anyone else noticed this issue with the youtube app on the iPad?

Making volume quieter on phone and FaceTime calls

Hi, is it possible to make the volume go lower on phone and FaceTime calls? I can make it go to a certain point, but once it reaches at certain point, it will not go any lower. I don’t want to have to wear my earphones all the time when I talk, so I want to be able to turn the volume down if necessary, but it seems like iOS will not allow it to go below a certain point. Is there a way to fix that? VoiceOver still clicks as if the volume is still being adjusted, but it doesn’t go any lower…

VoiceOver does not turn on when iPhone restarts

I have a new iPhone SE three running iOS 15.5. When I turn on my phone every time the screen curtain comes on VoiceOver does not come back on. As you have to enter a password to unlock the phone I’m not able to unlock it anymore. I cannot turn on voiceover with Siri or the home button before unlocking and VoiceOver does not turn on on the lock screen when the phone restarts.
