AppleVis is pleased to announce the apps and developers which have been nominated for the 2025 Golden Apple Awards; cast your vote now and make your voice heard.
Launched in 2012 and now in its fourteenth year, the AppleVis Golden Apple Awards is an opportunity for blind, DeafBlind, and low vision users of Apple products to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication which developers have put into making and maintaining great and accessible applications over the last twelve months.
Past winners of a Golden Apple include Seeing AI, Dice World, Dawncaster: Deckbuilding RPG, Blackbox, Timecrest, and Audio Hijack. (View the full list of previous Golden Apple winners here.)
Nominations for the 2025 Golden Apple Awards were submitted by a committee of end-users and industry professionals from the community, as well as by members of the AppleVis Editorial Team. Winners of the awards will be determined by a public vote, which is open to all blind, DeafBlind, and low vision people who are not employed by and do not have any professional affiliation with any of the shortlisted developers/companies. As a small token of our appreciation for user participation in the awards, all who cast a vote will be entered into a drawing for one of five gift cards with a value of US$25 (or equivalent in the user's local currency).
"The AppleVis Golden Apples are the only awards of their kind to specifically recognize app developers for excellence in creating accessible experiences for blind, DeafBlind, and low vision users of Apple products," said Michael Hansen, Director of AppleVis. Important Contest Rules
Please read the below information carefully before casting your vote
- Voting for the 2025 AppleVis Golden Apple Awards is open to individuals who are blind, DeafBlind, or who have low vision; and who are not employed by and do not have any other professional affiliation with any of the shortlisted companies. To ensure that the process is fare and representative of the wishes of end-users in our community, we ask that if you do not meet the requirements set out above, that you please not vote in the AppleVis Golden Apple Awards. AppleVis reserves the right to audit submissions and, in its sole discretion, disqualify any votes which are not in compliance with this policy.
- Winners for the Golden Apple Awards will be determined by a public vote. The nominee with the highest number of votes in each category will be named as the winner. In case of a tie, all nominees that attain the highest number of votes will receive the award.
- In each category, users have the option to write-in a nominee of their choosing. In the event that a write-in nominee receives more votes than any other nominee in the category, the write-in nominee will be evaluated by AppleVis Editors to ensure compliance with all award requirements and contest rules. If the write-in nominee fulfills all award requirements and contest rules, the nominee will receive the award. If the write-in nominee does not fulfill all award requirements and contest rules (for example, if a write-in app has accessibility issues or a developer is ineligible), the next qualifying nominee will win the award.
- Each eligible user is allowed one (1) vote. If you experience issues submitting your vote or have any other questions, please let us know via our Contact Form and a member of our team will assist you.
- As a small token of our appreciation for your participation in the awards, all users who cast a vote will be entered into a drawing for one of five gift cards with a value of US$25 (or equivalent in the user's local currency). The drawing will take place in early January 2026. Gift card winners will be notified via the email address on file with their AppleVis account (to change your email address, please update your profile). Winners will have seven (7) days to claim their gift card. If no response is received after seven days, the gift card will be considered 'forfeited' and a new winner will be chosen.
- As the parent company of AppleVis, Be My Eyes (including any Be My Eyes apps and/or services) is not eligible for this or any future AppleVis awards.
- Members of the AppleVis Editorial Team and Be My Eyes employees are not eligible for the gift card giveaway.
- We kindly request that during the voting period, community members refrain from creating forum threads to encourage others to vote for specific apps or developers; as this practice can undermine the spirit and fairness of a public vote by skewing results based on promotional efforts rather than genuine community preference. To help ensure a level playing field where all nominees are judged equally on their merits, any posts of this nature will be removed.
- Voting will close at 14:00 UTC on Monday, December 22, 2025.
How to Cast Your Vote
- An AppleVis Account is required to access the voting form and cast your vote. The voting form is at the end of this post, but it will only be displayed to logged in users.
- If you are not already logged into the website, you can log in by navigating to the Main Menu Button at the top of the page; then to the Account Submenu; and then to the Log In link. Upon logging in, you will automatically be returned to this page.
- If you do not yet have an AppleVis account, you can create an account here. Upon account creation and log in, please return to this page to cast your vote.
- All fields on the voting form must be completed. Each category includes an "N/A" option for users who do not wish to vote in a particular category, as well as a "Other" option should you wish to write-in your own candidate. If writing in a candidate, please first ensure the app/developer you are writing in complies with the criteria for the award and all contest rules.
