What Accessibility Means To Me

You say potato and I say potato, and yes, I know VoiceOver read both of those the same way, so you will have to imagine the commonly used expression. Being a VoiceOver user on the iPhone and Mac since 2009, I have become very familiar with the word accessibility and the hash tag #A11Y. The interesting thing about both of these terms, is that they mean something different to everyone.

Which ā€˜iā€™ To Buy?

Apple has recently released the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPad Air, and iPad Mini with Retina display.  All these devices complement the company's existing stable of products.  So how do you decide what is right for you, and which i to buy?
 
My personal view - and of course this is very subjective - is to ask yourself the following questions:

iOS 7.0.3 Released and Includes Fix for VoiceOver Input Sensitivity

Apple has just released iOS 7.0.3, and mention in the release notes that it includes a fix for the VoiceOver input sensitivity problem.
 
Also fixed is the problem that caused Siri to use a lower quality voice.

Possible Accessibility Bugs for VoiceOver Users in iOS 7

IMPORTANT: we need to stress that as recently as this morning, the Apple Accessibility Team was unable to replicate most of the problems listed below. This could be because there have been changes made to iOS since the Gold Master version which was used by us when testing for problems. It could also simply be operator error on our part, or local and specific problems caused by external factors not related to iOS. This means that it is possible that you will not encounter allā€¦

Apple may be preparing to announce a next-generation iPhone on September 10. Tech website AllThingsD is reporting that Appleā€™s next iPhone event is scheduled for September 10, 2013. Users experiencing issues updating 5th-gen iPod touch to iOS 6.1

Hello everyone, We want to make sure that all iTouch 5th Generation device owners know there have been reports of problems updating to iOS 6.1. Unfortunately, one of our team members was unable to update their iPod Touch 5th Generation to iOS 6.1 using iTunes, eventually leaving the device in an unusable state. There are many more users that are also experiencing this problem. At this time there are no good solutions we can offer other than calling your Apple store to make an appointment ifā€¦

Two Weeks with the iPhone 5: My Impressions

When Apple announced the iPhone 5, I told myself I wouldnā€™t do itā€”that I wouldnā€™t buy one.

And yet, there I found myself walking out of my local AT&T Store on launch day, a 64 GB iPhone 5 in my pocket.

One of the first things I noticed about the iPhone 5 was the metal back. It has a metal back with two glass strips running the width of the phoneā€”one at the top and one at the bottom. The headphone jack has been relocated, and it is now on the bottom left of the deviceā€”ā€¦
