I have recently received an Apple Watch S4 as a college graduation present. While the watch does have its short comings and limitations I do generally like it. I do however have one annoyance with it. while charging, the screen will wake up constantly and announce the time. I'm usually at home when this happens so its not obnoxious to the people around me but it is driving me crazy. I'm not receiving notifications or anything like that. I thought it might have been trying to announce the battery percentage as it charged, but the screen activations seems to not coincide with the battery charge. Anyone experience the same?

Possibly
Hi Kyle. I do have an issue that sounds like it may be the same as what you describe. For me, when the watch is on the charger, whether that be the one that came in the box, or the more solid charging stand I bought, it seems that even the slightest contact with my nightstand will wake the watch. So if I pick up something else that is on the table, or open a drawer, or practically if I breathe in its direction, it wakes up! Rather annoying.
It's Nightstand Mode
Hey Guys,
It's nightstand mode which makes your wach a hyper-sensative little bugger.
If you disable nightstand mode in your settings this will stop. It's just meant to pop up the time whenever someone sighted wakes up and looks at it, hence the reason it's so sensative.

nightstand
Yes. I agree. My is off. I can pickup the watch when still connected to the plug and does not talk.
Yes the issue is nightstand
Yes the issue is nightstand mode. Thank you for your responses.
Great, thanks.
Great, thanks for that. I’ll switch that off so.
NightStand Mode Be Gone
Thank goodness for that. I was wondering if that might be the issue. It's very annoying so mine is about to be turned off.
Thanks for that.
RE: Apple Watch constantly waking up while charging
I find this interesting. I have nightstand mode activated but my lowly watch zero doesn't wake up unless I touch it. Admittedly, I have a very nice cabinet style nightstand that is quite heavy so this may have something to do with it. If someone has a lighter nightstand then the watch might be too sensitive to minimal bumps to the stand. But my use case, my watch doesn't say anything unless I touch it or pick it up.
Still Happening For Me
Got an apple watch 4 as a birthday gift and the same thing happened to me. I tried turning off nightstand mode, but it still happened. It kept me awake and was driving me insane so I ended up just turning VO off to shut it up.
still happening for me too
I have night stand mode off (always have) and the watch wakes up at night and says something about the charge status, although I'm not completely sure because I'm only half awake. This only started with v. 6.1, I think. I have please do not disturb on my phone, and the watch is set to mirror the phone setting. If I take it off the charger, it doesn't wake up again. that has been my solution. but I'll try turning off VO overnight. Desparate after many nights of disturbed sleep...
I did that and it still will
I did that and it still will wake up every once in a while. I didn't do that last night though so dunno what the deal is.
exact localization?
Where is this mode exactly located? I've problems finding it in german.
Thank you, Beamter
Location of night stand mode
Hi. Night stand mode (or bedside mode as it is Called in the UK) is located under settings, general. Hope this helps.
If turning off nightstand mode doesn’t do it…
You might want to make sure that you don’t have move and breathe reminders turned on. Those little buggers are what got me first.
I have nightstand mode off
I have nightstand mode off but when I put it on charge it does still say nightstand even though I have it off. I wonder if you have to go turn it off again in settings while it's charging.
Interesting.
My watch is charging and I just touch and move it and did not hear you know talking. Series 5 current OS and I did turn off always on display because I am blind and do not need it. Although Bella the cat does not like that.
Nightstand issues
When I upgraded from my old First generation watch to a Series 4, I started having this issue, but turning off nightstand mode solved it for me. My watch works great now. I'm not sure why it would keep happening with nightstand mode turned off.
Faulty Charger?
Perhaps this may be the issue but uncertain. I haven't ever experienced this issue.
I have 42mm apple watch!
I have been using an apple watch 2mm. I even don't have any issues yet. Going well so far.
