siri problem:

By gary rogers, 19 May, 2020

iOS and iPadOS

My wife is using anIphone 7+. Siri is no longer working. She is using Ios 13.4.1. When she asks Siri to open any app, she gets "something went wrong". She has shutdown and restarted several times. Sometimes this fixes the problem, but it only helps temporarily or not at all.
Any suggestions will be welcome. I have checked the settings in Siri but there doesn't seem to be any thing to change or reset.

Have you checked that you have connectivity to the internet? With lots of people doing Zoom and other video chat interactions these days the internet is sometimes doing flakey things.

Just asked her to open twitter. No issues. It might be wifi. If not, turn Siri off and on to see. Also restart iPhone to see if that helps.

We have tried all suggestions and still have the same problem. I guess it is time to buy her a replacement! I will try the apple store first.

I had this too as did another friend

I had this happen yesterday. It would do other functions just fine but would not open any Apps at all. This continued into this morning, but when I got back home a little after 9 PM central and tried again, it opened the App I requested, so this seems to be something that was wrong on Apple's end and is now fixed.

I had same issue and update to 13.5 fixed it

Before you do anything else, update her phone to iOS 13.5. I had many issues with Siri including not recognising names or apps that did work until a few months ago. I updated my phone yesterday and now everything is working again

I am facing the same problem

Hi, I am facing the same problem since yesterday, there’s nothing wrong with your phone, I’m facing this with my 11 Pro Max I am waiting for the new update maybe that could fix this problem if not then I might need to restore the software but hopefully the new update will fix it
Just to be clear I tried every single thing

Still just see 13.4.1 here.

I go into Software update and I see iOS 13.4.1. "Your Software is up-to-date." I don't think there's 13.5 yet.

Maybe today or next week. The gold master was release Monday. Most people think will be this week but with Apple who knows. The apple only knows.

problem with siri:

I contacted apple disability support. They said there wasn't any history or reports of siri not recognizing apps. We then ran a diagnostic of my phone. Nothing showed up as a problem with software. I was then told to turn off wifi, go to privacy, turn off siri. Iwas told to then turn off phone. After that turn on phone and turn on siri and then turn on wifi. That appears to have solved problem. I Have not yet updated to 13.5. Probably tomorrow and hope the problem does return.
