Countdown with VOTimer

By AppleVis, 16 April, 2013

AnonyMouse gives us a walk-through of the VOTimer, which is a countdown timer with big buttons and a clear font. You can even set and launch the timer with a voice command in plain English. It was designed with simplicity in mind. Find out more information on the VOTimer on AppleVis at: http://www.applevis.com/apps/ios/utilities/votimer

problem with Voice Recognition

By David Woodbridge on Thursday, May 9, 2013 - 09:02

I'm wondering if the voice recognition used within the app is US English only? doesn't seem to respond to Australia English (at least for me). Other than that (smile), great app.

Voice Recognition

In reply to problem with Voice Recognition by David Woodbridge

It has a preference for US English, adult voice, but should understand clear articulation from anywhere. I wonder what devices are you guys using? The response from VOTimer did seem a bit more sluggish than I'm used to. Typically it takes under 3 seconds to respond to my commands with an iPad 3. I did not include the seconds in the timer to keep it simpler. When you are cooking, seconds usually don't matter unless you are using a microwave, which has its own timer. But indeed for some games for instance it would be useful to have the resolution down to a second. I'll see if I can make it configurable in the settings. Btw. thanks to AnonyMouse for the podcast. Devices Being Used

Hello Harry, Let me see. For the podcast I was actually using the iPhone 4 with the IOS 6.1.3. As for my usage and testing I am also using the iPhone 5 with the IOS 6.1.3. So as you can tell in the iPhone 4 is was a big sluggish and did have better results with the iPhone 5. However, even on my iPhone 5 there is still that 2-3 seconds delay after implementing the verbal command. Lastly, it was on my Wi-Fi at home which we have an 12Mbs bandwidth pipe. Thanks for the work you have done. Be glad to help out in anyway I can. Plus, thanks for the kind words on the podcast. HTH
