Announcing Timecrest 3

First, a thank you.

Four and a half years ago, all of the people in this amazing community in AppleVis gave us incredible feedback on how to make Timecrest 100% accessible in this thread:…

Thank you so much. Since then, we have been humbled to have earned the AppleVis Golden Apples for Developer of the Year and Best iOS Game. But really we could only have earned it from the support and care from this community. We don’t do everything perfectly and sometimes we have bugs, but we appreciate it when we get feedback with warmth from you all and we always use it to make things better.

We’re proud to announce Timecrest 3 is available as a free update to Timecrest and is 100% accessible through VoiceOver. It is available in the App Store here:

We also have an interview with the author of Timecrest here, be sure to check it out:…

Timecrest 3 adds 355,516 words, five new chapters, and 9 new music tracks. There are now more than 500,000 words in the whole Timecrest saga. Now you can explore the majestic floating platforms of Unity where the Masters Council confers, and get lost in the serene landscapes of the snow-covered Icecades. You can learn the secrets of Sol and Scarlet Ignis, whose pasts may hold a clue to what Ash has in store in the future.

We also have a launch event. We want to celebrate our launch by giving everyone a gift of Time Crystals every day! Log in each day to Timecrest from 12/15 to 12/27. Each day you will find 100 Time Crystals in your inbox. Be sure to collect them each day as each gift will expire by the end of the day!

If you have just started Timecrest, make sure to progress past the Prologue and into Chapter 1. The Inbox feature will then be activated in your Pocket Watch.

We strive to make Timecrest 100% accessible. If you have any feedback (positive or negative) about the story or how to improve accessibility in Timecrest, please contact us here or use the “Contact Support” button in the Settings menu of Timecrest.

Thanks again for being such a supportive community and helping make Timecrest amazing.

So I already have the time crest game, so do I need to download time crest three, or should it automatically update? Either way great work guys I will start playing this game again, I put it down for a while because I got distracted with other things.

No problem. I do a podcast on audio games, and was actually thinking of doing an episode on this game in the near future.

My friend told me about this interactive game / story yesterday. I can't stop playing it! I'm loving it so far. I'm on the first story on Chapter 2. Thank you so much for making this totally accessible!!!!

Hi. I’ve seen some of chapter 11, but when it gets to the part where Luthor is talking about his mother, I can’t get past there, I don’t see any messages come up. It just locks up. I don’t want to restart the whole game though, because I’ve achieved something that I never have before and I can’t remember how I did it. I want to see where it’s going to go. Is there any other way to make it continue on from where I am?

We're now working on an update–Timecrest 3.0.1–that fixes:
- Game gets stuck in Ch. 11. Please use the Contact Support button in the Settings menu and we can get you unstuck.
- No Memory Remnants granted. Please accept 5 Memory Remnants in your Inbox as compensation and claim before Dec 22.

Loving Timecrest 3 so far. I'm on chapter 12. So far, the thing I found interesting was when, toward the beginning of Chapter 12, when selecting a choice, somehow, my messages to Luthor were, ahem, um, modified? It scared me for a minute, and I'm thinking, okay, whoever keeps sending me these messages in red, why are you messing with me? Right now, I'm still in the mage trials It's geting pretty intense, if I do say so myself.

I'd like voiceover to read automatically the messages when they appear. I don't know if it is possible already though.

Submitted by cowbunny on Wednesday, December 16, 2020

Thank you for your suggestion. We had originally tried to do something like this with VoiceOver reading messages as they appear, but we could not find a way to make it work with Apple's VoiceOver coding. We had no way of knowing when VoiceOver was done speaking so that we could send the next message to be read. There were also some scenarios around if you choose to move the VoiceOver cursor what to do in that scenario.

We can examine if there is a way to do this now, but we've found generally that Apple has designed this so that control is in your hands, and it is difficult for an app to proactively move around the VoiceOver cursor on your behalf. Let us know if there is another app out there that behaves somewhat like this and we can examine if it is a technique we can apply.

Hi there!
Every time I open the app, the following error pops up:
Timecrest was not able to access the Internet. Check your connection and try again.
Note: using an iPhone SE 2020 with iOS 14.3. experiencing the same issue on the Apple Watch as well.

Absolutely love part three of this wonderful game. You really can't 100% know a person, and sometimes you're caught between a rock and a hard place. So many circumstances in life make us into the person we are today. It's truly fascinating!
Unfortunately, I was on chapter 13, left my phone to go do something for my mom, and my little cousin accidentally deleted my game. My own fault though, because I had stopped playing for a while, and I definitely didn't save my progress. I literally forgot about that option to be honest. Sucks! I lost all this stuff that I was saving up: over 300 teleport orbs, 21,000 gold, and about 5000 time crystals. I wanted to upgrade my generator, but, oh, well, looks like I've got my work cut out for me. I had one saved game, but I didn't get back everything, Not even half of it. Anyway, that's just my luck, I suppose. Also, for some reason, it seems that I can't connect my Twitter account to the game. Very frustrating to say the least.
Regardless, thank you for such an amazing game. Can't wait to build up my stash again and play through the rest of The chapters. this is most certainly going to keep me busy for a while, but I'm for sure not complaining❤️

I've drastically changed the past as I want to see how Ms I--you know the person i'm talking a bout--does Timecresting. So far, I've made the right choice/she's a good choice for me due to our disability of blindness. However, Luther's relationship points are still at 0, and I can't follow him on Twitter any time soon, it doesn't seem. Did I do something wrong? Will S.I be able to be followed--you again know who S.I is, I hope

I'm on chapter twelve, and when I make a certain choice a message appears saying that magic has interfered and has overwritten certain letters, or something to that effect. The only thing I can do is press okay, but now I can't progress, because no matter which choice I make, that same message appears and I don't know how to move on from there. Any help would be appreciated.

@Shannon - We're sorry you're having trouble. Please make sure your device has a good internet connection (do web pages in Safari load properly?) and also that the time and date are set correctly on your device. Please let us know if this helps you. Is this a new issue or has this worked for you in the past?

@Ahsan Khan - Young Luthor does not make friends easily, but if you keep going, we're sure you'll find some way to gain relationship with him.

@Kadianne - We're sorry to hear that you lost some of your progress. If you're having trouble connecting to Twitter, we've found the authorize app page that Twitter uses has some accessibility issues. You need to scroll down to the bottom of the page in order to make the button not dimmed and accessible. Some people have been able to scroll with VoiceOver and some had to deactivate VoiceOver for the scroll to work. Again, we apologize for this but unfortunately we cannot change Twitter's code for this page. Please let us know if this helps you.

@Ashleigh Piccinino - Please keep on going. Young Luthor is not easy to gain relationship points but we expect it will happen if you don't give up. Young Luthor and S I cannot be followed or Tweeted at. We're sorry if you were hoping this would be possible but they cannot.

@vulcansummer - This is a bug that is fixed in the latest update to Timecrest. Please update to the latest version in the app store and ensure your version of Timecrest is 3.0.3 or later. You can check the version in the Settings menu of Timecrest. With version 3.0.3 the bug you are mentioning is fixed. Please give it a try and let us know if this is fixed for you.

@cowbunny It worked. It definitely took a while to get the hang of it, and I even made a fan account because I wanted a separate one to tweet from. I'm happy for that.

Submitted by vulcansummer on Sunday, December 20, 2020

I'm sorry to say that I'm still having the same issues as I previously had, even though I have updated the game.
But thank you so much for your help.
Update: I've got it fixed.
Thanks again for being so helpful.

you're welcome for any help I gave. however, I wish that there was a one-time use text entry field ... of course, used when you don't think the given answers are suitable enough in the game. by "one-time use" I mean that the trext editers could appear throughout your game play when needed, and they'd only be for you/none of your answers would be saved for the next playthrough. For instance, I could've told the new Timecrest, Scarlet, that she had a lot to reflect on so needed to close the watch to do so properly. Other times, I've wanted to put my own two cents in as well, as the given answers didn't seem like what I'd really say. I thought it was supposed to be a game where you seemed to text your character/the characters in the game/so why isn't it this way? I just think we need more control of the answers/what we think they should be--only if the given ones don't seem to fit.

Submitted by cowbunny on Tuesday, December 22, 2020

@ashleigh piccinino - That's right, trying again often works. Please make sure to update to the latest version of Timecrest (3.0.3) that should make it so it always works. Also thank you for your suggestion of being able to enter whatever text you want into the game. We strive to make the game work as realistically as possible, so unfortunately it would be hard to make it so that if you entered your own text, the character could respond realistically. Example:

You (one time use): Scarlet, I think this spell is harming you and I don't think you should learn it.
Scarlet: Oh, that's nice! Thanks for telling me!

It would be hard to account for the infinite things that people could enter in for the option. It's a really cool idea, but we're not sure how to make it work. Definitely interested in your thoughts!

@vulcansummer - Delighted to hear it is working for you. Let us know if there's anything else we can do to help.

One thing I would like to suggest is to increase how many items you can buy in a single purchase from the merchant, instead of doing it by a single unit. If I want to purchase multiple teleport orbs or convert 10 pieces of Irillium, I don't necessarily want to be pressing the button 10 different times, especially since I'll have to wait for the confirmation for each purchase.

Hi! I'd almost finished TimeCrest 2 when part 3 was released, so the next logical step was to continue with TimeCrest 3, so that's what I did. It's probably a good thing I don't play this game all day, otherwise I'd never put it down: I keep wanting to know what happens next, and there are far less pauses in this game, so it's far too easy to play for longer than I planned before stopping. The game only got stuck on me once, I heard the sounds of new text coming in at one point without VoiceOver saying anything, but closing the game in the App Switcher then re-opening it brought VoiceOver back, and I haven't had that problem again since. I'm in chapter 13 as I write this, and I can't predict where the story will go from here, but I definitely look forward to finding out. Thank you very much to the TimeCrest developers for such an interesting and enjoyable game!

That's going to be nice if the dev team can get that going. I could put in a word for you with the Alintian Support Guild if you'd like. However, you could as well.

Submitted by Rich on Sunday, January 3, 2021

So I just finished TimeCrest 3 yesterday. I didn't have skip crystals, so I broke down and bought the Welcome pack so that I could get Master of Time to get through more of the story. And wow!
There were some things I expected, and one of them was that Alvin would end up being right.
What I didn't expect however was learning what happened to Lu Thor or the true reason behind Valdor's destruction. I chose Riley, but I will choose Scarlet in my next playthrough

Submitted by cowbunny on Sunday, January 3, 2021

@Kadianne - Thank you for the suggestion for multiple item purchase. We have a long list of requested features and we'll add it as something to consider.

@Clare - We are not sure why this happens but if you get into a state where there are sounds but no VoiceOver, use the rotor to change the voice, and things will work again. We think this is an iOS bug and we're not sure why this happens.

@Ashleigh - Thanks! Asking people to contact our support channel is a great way for people to get more help.

@Rich - Congratulations for finishing Timecrest 3, and thank you for supporting us by buying the Welcome Pack. We're a small team and so every little bit helps us. Hope you enjoy and let us know what you think about the Scarlet path when you have completed it!

Submitted by vulcansummer on Monday, January 4, 2021

Is there a way to save more than one outcome? For example, if I choose from one character then want to save that outcome, then switch over to choosing another character, is this possible.
I am just loving this game so so much!
Are there awards given for games? If there were, I'd nominate you for some kind of excellence award!!!
My sincere apologies if my previously unedited post spoiled anything for anyone. It wasn't intentional.

Submitted by Jessica Brown on Wednesday, January 13, 2021

I purchased the welcome pack and got the elixirs and orbs, but master of time didn’t seem to activate. Skipping still requires skip crystals even for short timers.

Submitted by cowbunny on Wednesday, January 13, 2021

@vulcansummer - When you complete the game, the run is automatically saved. You can go to the Top Menu and select "Load Completed Game" to see the list of games you have completed. You can simply just view what games you have finished, or load/continue from that game if it is a Timecrest 1 or Timecrest 2 completed game.

We were honored to win the AppleVis Golden Apples 2016 for Developer of the Year and Best iOS Game during Timecrest 2. If there are any other awards you want to nominate us for, of course we would be honored.

@Jessica Brown - I'm sorry you're having trouble with Master of Time! We'd love to help you. Please contact our support in-game and they can help you with this. To do this, go to the top menu and select Settings, and then Contact Support. It will start an email with some of your game data attached so we know what is going on with your game. Once you send the email we can help you out through that channel.

So before I started Timecrest three, I had eleven thousand gold that I had saved up over the course of time.
Then once I finished Timecrest three, I decided to replay Timecrest one and two.
But then I got a big portion of gold, eleven thousand I think it was, but when I look in the pouch, I only see the gold I was given at the start of the game and not the gold I had previously earned.
I saved the game after building up all that gold, so shouldn't I have around 22 thousand gold? Or do I have that wrong?
Thanks so much.

the ending kind of for me was like, what? I felt .like I was on a cliffhanger. I won't spoil it but still. wow?

Submitted by Ashleigh Piccinino on Monday, January 18, 2021

I've finished the game so far, and I'm not looking back. for someone once said, "If I look back, I am lost." I'm waiting for Timecrest 4, and I guess you can figure out who said that quote--not a c haracter from the game, though.

Submitted by Chris on Tuesday, January 19, 2021

I can't wait for Timecrest 4! I'm currently on my third run through Timecrest 3, but I really want to know what happens next. Darn those cliffhangers! Timecrest 3 provides a lot of nice backstory and you understand a lot of things about the world and the main characters. I know this has been said before, but thank you so much! My Christmas present arrived early this year and I'm still enjoying it.

Submitted by Clare Page on Tuesday, January 19, 2021

As I write this, I've just started playing TimeCrest 3 for the second time, usually making different choices to what I did first time round. I didn't play TimeCrest 3 again straight away, I spent last week playing parts 1 and 2 again, but I understood more about why things happened in parts 1 and 2 from my knowledge of part 3. I know we mustn's expect TimeCrest 4 for a good while yet, but part 3 left us on such a cliff-hanger that, like other players, I look forward to the day when we can play part 4 and find out what happens in that.

Submitted by KE7ZUM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021

the ending at least from the timeline I played kind of sucked. the writing could have IMHO been a lot better. I'm in chapter 5 of timecrest 1 so we'll see what happens.

What you might possibly be seeing is when you first get the infinity pouch, Ash counts the gold and announces how much is currently there. If there truly is a way to double the ammount of gold in the pouch I've not seen after all these years, please give me a hint!

No, see here is what happened. After finishing Timecrest one and two, I continued to save up gold over time even though the game was over.
Then I played Timecrest three and was still saving up gold everyday, getting it from Morty.
I then had eleven thousand gold or thereabout. Once I finished Timecrest Three, I then decided to start over and play Timecrest one and two.
But then Ash got some gold, like eleven thousand or some such, and shouldn't that gold have been added to the gold I had already saved up?
I could be getting it completely wrong though, so forgive me if I misunderstood the situation.

Submitted by Ashleigh Piccinino on Monday, January 25, 2021

I think you keep everything but just get it back with the re-establishment of the infinity pouch and all that stuff. in the VoiceOver help, it says that the key items you get to keep when you start the game/s over again. of course, the currencies--crystals and gold--are key items, so ...
