your on the right track
Hi Holger!
You're on the right track, but what you're looking for is in the settings app.
Go to settings, bluetooth, and go to your device. Make sure your speaker is NOT connected to your device before you do this. Then, go to the more info button by either flicking up or down on the device button, or swiping right with 1 finger. Double tap with 1 finger and then swipe until you hear something called device type. Double tap on that, and then select the option that's named speaker. After that, you should be good to go. Music will come through the speaker, and Vo. will come through your iphone. I did this with my stereo that has bluetooth, and as far as playing music goes, I love using it that now! Hope this helps!
Success
Perfect. Follow instruction and it work. Now VO is coming from my iPhone. Thanks much. Hope it will keep doing so.
calls
Speaker can be also use to answer calls. The change that I did will affect getting calls from speaker? Hope not. Thanks again.
It should
You’re welcome! I’m glad it helped! It should. I haven’t had it switched back since I did it to my stereo. I will say one thing though. For some speakers, for whatever reason, it doesn’t have that setting. I don’t know why that is. But I just know that it doesn’t exist. The only reason I know this, is because there’s a Bluetooth speaker that my family and I use. And voiceover comes through that speaker to. And when I tried to change it, I discovered that it didn’t have that device type setting on it. What would originally happen, is she would pair a device, and Apple would try to guess what the device was. So it might say that a speaker is headphones. Making voiceover come through the speaker. And you couldn’t change it. Now, you can. You can actually tell your iPad, that this Bluetooth device is a speaker. Thereby changing voiceover behavior.
I’m not sure about that
I’m not sure about that. I don’t have an iPhone. I did this for my iPad. I don’t think it should have an effect on it though. Because calls are down on the phone. Once you get voiceover coming through that speaker, on your phone, that means your notifications will come through on your phone as well. You will hear your notification sounds on your phone. This would be a question for Apple Accessibility. But like I said, well I don’t have experience with an iPhone, I don’t think it should have an effect on it.
