Hello all.
Okay so this is a strange one, and the subject line says it all really.
Since I installed my latest update, two of my apps will not open. The tesco.com supermarket app, and The Google app. both can be perfectly opened by someone with site with VoiceOver switched off, but if VO is on, they just hang on the status bar, and yes, I have uninstalled, and reinstalled both, with the same result.
Even more strangely, one of my friends has had similar issues, but with different apps in his case. One being I messaging, and one being the Dolphin easy reader app.
So, I’m just putting this out there really to see if anybody else has experienced similar issues since the latest iOS update.
I have called the Apple Accessibility line and made them aware of the issue, and they are going to escalate a ticket to their engineers. But obviously, if any of you out there having similar issues could report to them as well, i’m thinking it would be a good thing.
Thank you for reading, and I’m looking forward with interest to some responses if anyone else is experiencing similar issues.
Cheers.

Screen Recognition
Have you tried turning off screen recognition. This seems to sometimes fix this sort of thing.
Screen thingy...
Have you turned screen thingy, I can't remember what it's called, off.
It's that option in voiceover where you can make some apps work with it on, screen OCR?
Yes this is a known issue
Hi,
This is Screen recognition. Two ways to fix.
1 Once the app opens go to the app switcher. Use the rota to find Screen Recognition and swipe down to turn off. Then go back in the app.
2 From settings accessibility voiceover find screen recognition and remove it. Then reinstall that function by turning it back on. It will redownload a file about 41mb and you should be fixed.
Screen recognition
When I had this problem--I posted previously about it in a post w/the subject of calendar won't speak--I first had to deselect apps in screen recognition, only then could I turn it off. At least that's how I was instructed by the Apple Accessibility Help Desk rep, who was really knowledgeable. & it worked, so not arguing & just sharing what I was told to do :).
Screen Recognition causing problems when opening apps
Hello to those of you who flagged up screen recognition being turned on to be the cause of apps freezing when opening them. I had no idea that this was a recognised problem, and would never have thought of it in a million years as being the cause of the issue I was having. So thank you so much to all of you. I can now access my apps perfectly.
What a wonderful group this is with a wealth of knowledge,
Have a good day now all, smiles.
