Hi. I apologize if this is covered. I'm new to this site and haven't figured out search yet. I'm moving from Android to the iPhone. However, I've ran into a problem trying to sign up for an Apple ID. The form was easy to fill out until I hit the captcha. Would someone please tell me how to get an audio captcha? I am totally blind and have no access to sighted help. Thanks for your help. Kenny

Good day Kenny. Sure, you can do that from your iOS device, it is strait forward. It doesn't require a captcha. The simplest way to do it from your device is to visit the AppStore and purchase a free app, you'll be asked to sign-in using your Apple ID or create a new Apple ID if you don't have one. Tap on create a new Apple ID and follow the steps. You don't have to enter a payment method by this way. Important, you'll have to enter a valid address. If you face any issues please feal free to contact. I'm more than happy to help. Regards. Khalfan.
Thanks. I will be buying a used iPhone and have never used any ios device before. Glad to know it might be possible. I've spent the last several hours trying to sign up with iTunes on Windows 7 with no luck. The iTunes app has some accessibility issues. I got past check boxes and buttons that don't report their true state, but buttons that can't be activated with keyboard or mouse finally caused me to give up. So far, my experience is making me wonder if I should stay with the devil I know.
Hi, I used to be a devoted Android user, but I switched to the iPhone about 2 months ago. I remember this being one of the things I struggled with too. If I remember right, I used iTunes, and from its main window I hit alt-S for the Store menu, then went down to Create Apple ID. I don't think I had to deal with a Captcha that way. Setting it up with the phone is possible, but I know for me, I was so new at using the phone that it seemed like a really daunting task on my first or second day. One thing I've learned in the past 2 months is that creating my Apple ID was one of the most frustrating things I had to do. Once I got past that, things went much more smoothly and were a lot easier. There are so many things available to you with the iPhone that weren't available (or accessible) on Android... it's like opening a whole new window of opportunity. If I can help you through the transition in any way, feel free to let me know.

Thanks for the offer. The button I couldn't activate was when I tried creating an ID from iTunes on Windows 7. I got all the way to creating a billing agreement with paypal. That was successful, but then I could get no further. I filled out the info, but couldn't activate the button to get any farther. I've been told I can register for an iTunes ID from the phone once I get it, but will I be able to set up a billing method? I need to by apps and plan to buy content.
Hi. No need to use iTunes for this. You can visit: http://onj.me/1sjky and create your apple id right from the apple ID website. I figured there had to be an easier way, and there it is. it's a standard webpage, very very simple to use if you understand filling out forms and such.
The website Toonhead posted didn't work for me, because it has a Captcha with no audio alternative; and, at least in my case, WebVisum wasn't cooperating. So without sighted help, I wasn't able to sign up straight from the web.

Hi. Wow they must've added the captcha since I last used the website sometime ago, I'm so sorry if I caused any frustration there. If you do use webvisum, it will sometimes take more than one try to get it but it will eventually work. Again many appologies. I guess the best way to do it really is from your iOS device. :)
Yes you could enter a payment method after signing up for an Apple ID. You can simply go to settings, iTunes and AppStores and edit your account information. You can select a payment method, either by credit card, master, visa or by entering a code. This code is mostly found in iTunes GiftCards, it's very useful, safe and available every where, I prefer using A GiftCard than entering a credit/ visa card. Note, you'll have to enter a valid credit card only when sending a gift to a friend, unfortunately we can't do that using our credit account.

The representative with whom I spoke in Apple's accessibility department assisted me with the CAPTCHA. Actually it took us about 3 tries because the CAPTCHA kept refreshing, but he was very patient and we finally got it. My mom emailed me a code though, which we didn't end up needing. The code was a series of random letters and numbers. I do have another question though. I recently received a couple emails saying my Apple ID had been locked. What exactly does this mean? I tried going to appleid.apple.com to reset the password, but that wouldn't work. I don't want to create a new Apple ID until all other possible solutions have been exhausted. I'm trying to upgrade to Yosemite and I'm being prompted for an Apple ID.
