Hello,
I'm delighted to announce that as of 14 hours ago, the Envision AI app is now completely free, for everyone, everywhere!
Go grab the update & enjoy!
Me too! I'm glad it's free! I look forward to using it to read PDF. docs. I grabbed this update a few hours ago, and in the limited time I've played with it, it now has a spot on page 1 of my home screen! I see it as yet one more tool that we can have in our toolbox. I think I'll be using it mostly for PDF. docs, and poto descriptions. I have a question though.
I use Seeing AI. and when I put a photo through it, it'll say something like: 25 year old woman wearing a jacket looking happy, and all if any text that's present. Also, if the image has columneds, like, if on one side of pic it's one thing, and text, and the other side it's another, and text, will it interpret it correctly? If anyone can answer these questions, I'd be most greatful! I'm curious to see what others experiences have been with this app. :-)
Maybe could someone consider doing a podcast on this app since it's now free for all? Or if there's already a podcast on this app, could someone point me to it?
Well folks, I hate to say this but I think I'm going to wait on this one until I upgrade to another iPhone. My current iPhone has 32 gigs of memory, which I'm told is probably the smallest. I'm not saying I'm upset with this. It's a good amount of storage. I just don't want to exceed that since I already have several 3rd-party apps. Having said all that, I am so looking forward to trying out this app and comparing it with Seeing AI which I like.
Does anyone know why the sign in with Apple ffeature won't work? It shows my ID, then hide my email, then when I press continue, nothing happens. The facebook log in option is broken also. The google one, I forgot my passwords, again, so that's on me. Ugh. :) Let me know about the apple option please.
Folks, I do experience Siobhan's issue. Despite using FaceID, I can't log in. The Gmail/Google approach doesn't work either despite typing the digit which is sent to my number - I'm always kicked back to the first log-in screen. So strange and rather discouraging!
I gave this a try, and for me sign in with Apple works just fine.
One thing though I've noticed is that its language detection for text recognition is kind of bad, especially for Asian languages like Thai. In fact I don't think it even recognizes Thai! Can't say for other Asian languages though as I've not encountered texts in those languages.
I've enver gotten the sign in with apple to work right, I can't even get face ID. Oh well. I guess it isn't in the cards for me. I'll keep it until it might work later.
Signing in under the email link? It works for me, got it yesterday and donβt know how to use it. The latest version is 3.0 witch was yesterday.
Good luck
So it seems that I'm out of luck. Or, based on the grand scheme of things, Iranian iOS users are out of luck - potentially because of the sanctions - as far as this app is concerned.
I never tried the email option as the sign in with Apple works for me first time around, but the email option should work, regardless of region or location.
So after doing a few tests using the new 3.0 version, I came to the conclusion that although it's quite good when it comes to making PDFs more readable and stuff, its ability to recognize objects in photos is still not as good as iOS's built-in functionality.
For example, I have a photo of my blue inflatable whale. iOS correctly recognizes the object as a blue inflatable whale, but Envision somehow recognizes the same object as a pair of blue shoes.
@Nut, It doesn't work here in Iran on my 13 Pro Max. I tried using several email addresses and several passwords, but Envision accepts none of them with a vague "internal error" message.
Does signing up with email work for any other services? Cause this is very strange and signing up with email should work everywhere unless this is blocked by the government of your country.
Maybe try contacting Envision support?
Yes, it works with other apps the way signing in works with, say, Gmail in other applications. It is something actively blocked by the Envision servers because even using a VPN can't resolve it.
@Nut, This is a known issue with Envision in certain countries such as Iran, and their support team is fully aware of the limitation though they have done nothing to fix it over the past few months. Given the plethora of such apps on the App Store, they have totally lost the market to the likes of Seeing AI where I live.
I honestly love this app. I use it mainly for reading text. I actually was able to play an Xbox game called the quarri with it as well. That was just one of 2 tools I used for that game.
Hi,
This morning, while trying to find myself something for breakfast, I attempted to use this app to scan a barcode. I love the way that barcode scanning works, & that it makes a noise. However, the results opened to a Google page, and it was not in English, which is the language my app is set to. The webpage displayed in Japanese.
It also tried telling me, βinvalid barcode.β Iβm not sure what thatβs all about.
Any advice?
I tried scanning a barcode for my Otterbox iPhone 12 case and Envision says product not found, whereas SeeingAI correctly identified the Otterbox case.
So for scanning barcodes of products I would prefer SeeingAI over Envision, at least for now.
When it comes to OCR. apps lSeeing AI and Envision, etc, I think it's always good to have more than one. For one thing, if you find a document is troublesome with one app, you can try the other one. That goes for anything in my opinion whether it be document scanning or image analysis and description and OCR. I don't think you can have too many OCR. apps on your device. Because some work great with some docs and tasks and some don't. Not only that, but, one might work better depending on what you want to do with the photo or doc once it's scanned. For instance, if you want to keep a copy of it, then Envision might work. If you just want to know whether that piece of mail is junk or not, then maybe Seeing AI. would work better for you.
opened this website after a long long time and wow! i'm happy that this app is now free for all. i remember trying it out and liking it. fab since it was quite costly. here in India.
Grateful for this app becoming free, thank you!!! I was very interested in trying to read some troublesome PDF files with this app but a bit disappointed with the results. I get some credit card statements in PDF format that are accessible on my iPhone but that include a list of transactions in a table that are not read in tabular order by the native reader in IOS, it will read all the transaction dates first then all the transaction details, which of course is almost useless. When importing this file to Envision, the app did not import all text correctly, many words have typos, even though the original document can be read correctly without the app, and also the transaction table is completely bypassed and not read at all. I'll play around with the other features but so far not very impressed with PDF handling.
I completely agree, especially with regards to its table handling in PDFs, and also for images with texts in a table format.
I think I actually submitted a feedback regarding this to Envision, but I don't know whether they'll improve table handling in future updates...

Podcast

does it use the internet?
Does this app run totally on device or does it use the internet?
Not Until Upgrade

Touch or Face ID to log in
Instead of trying to press the Continue button, just use touch or face ID. HTH.
Log-in doesn't work here either
Folks, I do experience Siobhan's issue. Despite using FaceID, I can't log in. The Gmail/Google approach doesn't work either despite typing the digit which is sent to my number - I'm always kicked back to the first log-in screen. So strange and rather discouraging!

Siobhan, have you tried?

Email opption should work regardless of region
I never tried the email option as the sign in with Apple works for me first time around, but the email option should work, regardless of region or location.
email worked for me
I signed up with email, and it worked flawlessly for me! Plus, once I got sign up, it automatically logged me in, which, was awesome!

I guess the only way is to contact Envision support and find out why this is happening.
this is cool
I have not tried that app before. I will check it out :)

Give it a chance
The update just came out and you have to give them a chance to iron out the kinks. It will get better, be patient.
It's always good to have
