While this is delightful news, I really don't understand why this is only limited to the iPhone 14 Pro lineup. Surely it shouldn't be that hard to introduce the same thing to devices with an older chip? I really don't understand.
The chime will be part of the boot process - so will occur before iOS itself loads. This likely means that it depends upon something hardcoded in to the new a16 chip, hence only available on the iPhone 14 Pro.
Though it will be nice for those who upgrade, I don't really care the 12 doesn't have a startup sound. The second comment will have answered your question, should you have read it.
I agree with everyone else that is sad that so far I don’t understand why this is it on older phones and the chip explanation doesn’t make any sense to me either because it shouldn’t require a newer chip to do it really should just be a matter of programming it in when the software starts it should just be a matter of programming it in there somewhere I would think but that comes from somebody that doesn’t really have any programming knowledge lol but also how do ringtones work like how do they program those in for notification tones I would think it would be the same it just Hass to be programmed in somehow for when the software starts on the phone
It isn't fair that only those who can afford a Pro model will get that sound. It isn't like it's a luxury. I hate restarting my phone because I can never get it turned on at the first, and sometimes the second or third, try.
I really wish they would bring this new start up sound that is on the iPhone 14 to the older devices such as iPhone 13 and even the 12 series. If you guys need me for anything, you can feel free to contact me.
In iOS 16 you can ask SIRI to restart or turn off your iPhone. This should take the guess work out of trying to figure out turning the phone back on, if all you want to do is restart.
From what I understand, the BIOS (basic input output system) is not part of iOS (though iOS does rely heavily on the BIOS to start up.) This is much harder to upgrade on older phones though it can be done. I've sent a feedback message to Apple stating my disappointment, though every time I talk about it I seem to get all evangelical on my audience! LMAO!!

Unfortunate Limitations

Likely explanation

Finally
I wonder if this''ll be happening on older models or if it's only on the iphone 14 bootloader.
The second comment is correct

I hope it will be also in IPhone 12 or or lower version of the I
I hope it can have it also in the IPhone 12
I really wish they'd make it available across the board.

Possible work around for some
