Retracting mail before being sent

The option to unsend an email message is at the bottom of the screen after you hit the send button. It doesn’t stay there very long though. So you have to be pretty quick at reaching it. I’m not sure exactly how long it stays, but it isn’t very long.

You can change this to 30 seconds by going to settings > mail > undo send delay. After you set it to your preferred length of time, you can find the button to undo your send at the bottom of the screen in the Mail app. You just double tap it and you are back in the message you wanted to unsend.

Interesting info on the mail recall length being customisable, thanks very much. I know I’m potentially stepping close to an edge I don’t understand but I genuinely can’t not ask, If you all don’t want to or can’t answer for whatever reason I completely understand but I just can’t work out an circumstance where addressing a single person is best done with a plural. My query is genuine and curious. I’d like to know if you all feel comfortable sharing. I’m perfectly okay with flipping female and male and fully understand under what circumstances thats appropriate. If I get it wrong by someone’s voice and am corrected I’ll change to the correction without question but I’ve been scratching my head for a good 15 minutes and just can’t work this one out. Would you mind helping me understand? Again if its too personal, please ignore and move on but I have to ask.

I think it stays for 15 seconds. Awfully short, if you ask me. In Gmail, when ever you send a message, or delete something, save or discard a draft, there's a button that say Sent or Discarded or whatever and it stays there until you click on it or you close the app. That's way better. Wow, I'm glad they added that, and since I don't use gmail I'm pretty sure I saw this in Mail settings on my phone...

It's 10 seconds by default, but you can make it up to 30 seconds or turn it off entirely. Settings > Mail, the last option is Undo Send delay. Open that. The options are off, 10 seconds, 20 seconds, and 30 seconds. Man, I'm glad you can change it, because at one point (circa IOS 9) VO might've frozen for that entire time of ten seconds, and although this undo send wasn't a thing back then, thank you to Apple for making it customizable!

So i'm guessing if you change the undo send to off, does the button stay there indefinitely until ppressed or you close the app? I agree, 10 seconds is kinda, short.

I'm guessing it means no undo send delay, because there would probably be an indefinitely button if it was there.

According to a search I just performed, you can long press Send once you have composed the message. Also, a triple tap with one finger will result in the same prompt.

In the macOS Ventura beta, there is a menu button immediately to the right of the send button in the Mail toolbar which allows you to schedule emails similarly to how it's done on iOS.
