Fruitpot has broken my Iphone

By dark, 11 January, 2023

iOS and iPadOS Gaming

I was looking at the ap updates, when I noticed a new version of fruitpot.

Just to be clear this isn't fruitpot 2, which is apparently a new game, but the original which I've had on my phone for quite some time and played fine.

I downloaded the update, but then hit "open", by mistake.
Now I cannot close the game at all!

hitting the home button does nothing, it doesn't go to the home screen, nor can I get the ap switcher to work.

I've tried calling my Iphone and going from the call screen, but that was no good.
I tried turning off my Iphone, but when I hold the power button, I get to a screen vo won't speak on, and tapping on that screen does nothing accept open the lock screen again, and bring me back to fruitpot.
I'm using an Iphone 8 with as far as I know the latest Ios, and I've never run into this problem, but since it's effectively made my phone unusable, I'd appreciate some advice on how to fix it,Ie how to close fruitpot and return to the homescreen.

Possible Solution

Is there any way to use the touch screen controls to get home? You said the app switcher didn't let you close the app?

To my understanding, even on a phone with a home button you should be able to perform the touch screen controls toget to home/appswitcher or notification center and control center.

Force Restart

Do a force reboot or restart. Some people will call this a reset. On an iPhone 8, quickly press volume
up, then volume down, then hold in the side button for about 15 seconds. Wait about a minute or so, and your phone should restart. Hope this helps you.

Not sure how to ask this

Hi Dark. i just updated fruit pot and also decided to open. Forgetting it was in landscape, I freaked for a second to see if I could close it. Then I remembered that it was in landscape so I just used the home gesture which is on the left hand side of the screen to go Home. I'm sure you tried that, but I didn't want to insult your intelligence. good luck

problem fixed, but still an odd problem.

Okay first to answer people's questions.

Yes, I was aware it was in landscape mode. I tried to bring up the control centre, and obviously I hit the home button, indeed I was using the home button to change from the lock screen, but nothing I tried worked, the phone was literally stuck in Fruitpot with no way out :D.

In the end, someone on audiogames.net suggested holding the power button and volume down, this gave me the option to power off the phone, an option I wasn't getting with just the power button alone for some reason.

Once it came back up, I could get to the home screen, and close aps with the ap switcher.

I don't know why this happened, I've certainly played fruitpot a fair bit before. Maybe it was that I had the ap store and crafting kingdom also open, or maybe just an odd conflict with opening from the download page rather than the icon on the home screen.

either way, glad it's fixed now.

Now I just need to decide whether I risk trying fruitpot ii or not :D.
