My elderly friend (Nick is 83) and client is having a lot of trouble with his Voiceover. He's a brilliant novelist and I'm helping him edit his tome, the first in a series. In fact, I'm so grateful to this group because we're using Ulysses, recommended in this forum, which I don't know what I'd have done without if I'd had to work with 2000 pages plus of research and finished chapters in Word.
During this project, I've learned everything I can about Voiceover to help ease Nick's frustrations. I even put together a cheat sheet for him (and other sighted helpers, like his wife) from what I've found here in Applevis and elsewhere online. Trouble is, the commands and shortcuts don't always work. I can't imagine what it's like to continuously find things changing. What works in Voiceover in the morning, does not in the afternoon if he pushes a wrong combination of keystrokes.
We're looking for someone to give Nick (and me!) a personal tutorial to help him better use both Mail and TextEdit. And to help me jump in and get him out of trouble quicker. Experience with DropBox would be preferable as we have shared folders.
Nick is using Ventura with a Macbook Air. I'm still on Monterrey so can't always back-engineer the issue. I was recently physically on-site in his office daily for two months and it was a rare day he didn't need help getting out of something.
I've been away, working with him remotely, for a week now and I can't figure out what happened. He's complaining about cursor behavior, which I've heard on the phone. The cursor stops before the comma, period (and I assume every letter).
Tomorrow I'm going into his laptop with TeamViewer to reset all the Voiceover selections to default and start from the beginning. I wish we knew what keystrokes get him into trouble, so we could undo them the same way, or work on him unlearning certain things. But I'm mostly guessing.
Nick's needs are simple. Writing plain txt files (TextEdit), and emails (Mail). He rarely uses He knows how to save, reply, write, edit... but often gets into trouble he can't get out of. I've coached him through the escape routes, when for example he gets stuck in the top menu bar and can't get out.
Please let me know your experience and what you would charge for an hour of tutoring via Skype or WhatsApp. He is in Peru and I am in Toronto so EST mornings would work best for us.

Thank you!
