Stopping people from contacting you randomly on WhatsApp… Is that a thing?

Good evening everyone from my side in Australia
I have been getting random messages from random numbers who
Aren’t in my contacts
I have got my phone number from group chats
I specifically say that I do not want to be contacted without consent
I understand certain people can’t speak English, but it gets annoying
Especially blocking them all of the time
So, is there a way I can
Get it to them that I don’t want to be texted without consent without sounding disrespectful or harsh? I mean I like being popular and I like meeting new people but, it gets annoying after a while
Or if there’s a setting I can change in my privacy settings that will allow me to say, allow the person to contact you,
I’m not sounding harsh or anything well I’m trying not to anyway, but it gets really annoying after a while
Thanks for your assistance

Hi there!
Actually, it isn't possible to do that. The only way to prevent people from contacting is by either blocking them al or blocking them from being able to add you to groups.

I join lots of WhatsApp groups.
You can say I’m a social retard.
I don’t really like socialising with people.
Even at my school I struggle.
So I like making friends! LOL
Block, and then we get annoying after a while

I don't think that you're socially retard.
I spend a lot of time chatting on Discord servers, and some of my closest friends only contact me when they need help with software or other issues. It hurts me, but they don't seem to understand.
I used to enjoy socializing in person, but my circumstances have led me to develop mostly online friendships ahahaha.

Discord in my opinion, it’s a shipwreck when it comes to accessibility, and I have accumulated lots of online friends, along with some friends from the outside world

In iphone its horrible, voice over focus jumps all time and makes it hard to use the app.
I use it in my windows pc and it works fine

The mobile version of discord isn’t the greatest, especially when you’re getting messages at 2 am and a discord server that contains drama.
And WhatsApp, yeah, okay

Good morning. Primarily, I use LINE and ‎WhatsApp for my chat app choices. Getting added to a group can happen even if you do not socialize heavily and joining lots of groups. I use these apps for my gaming life to communicate with my people outside of the battlefield, which is extremely important in my given scenario. Anyway, I find that, sometimes, I am added to strange groups or individual chats, despite also trying to tweak these settings. I don't fuss with it, I simply go in and block the individual, or leave the group and delete it, depending on the need. But, I do use both of these apps very heavily, and find them, though they have a little bit of quirk here or there, very dependable apps, and I'm very thankful for them. They have become quite a necessity for me.

I don't talk to them and just move on. If you say hi, they won't leave you alone.

They say hi I don’t respond, I see what they say next. All they want is an immediate friendship or relationship , if they say that I blocked them,,
