What does everybody want an iOS 17

I still get the occasional speechless moment when hanging up a phone call, and I am having issues with self-voicing programs in the beta of 16.5. While I'm dreaming, how about paragraph support in Braille, and maybe 10 more iq points for Siri.

With AI being what it is these days, amazing, Siri needs an update with an AI twist.

Or, what I'd prefer, scrap siri and make something brand new.

Oh and fix the, I'm not going to speak now, bug.

I love Apple but instead of new features I would rather appreciate improvements related to certain bugs so that usage of Apple products would be much nicer. I would also welcome more features for WatchOS users.

Apple really has to get existing VoiceOver features working more smoothly before adding new stuff. I shouldn't have to, for instance, turn screen recognition off so that already accessible apps will work smoothly. There are a lot of real traps like that which are especially deadly for beginning users. VoiceOver should have had a tutorial for beginners that was built into iOS since day one. I've talked to so many beginners over the years who had no idea where to find basics on using VoiceOver and making the most of their iPhones.
Somehow, Apple also needs to make accessible apps easier to search for in the app store. Many beginners are getting apps which aren't accessible, becoming discouraged, and remain unaware of the many apps which are accessible and could prove live changing.
Those are by far my most longstanding wishes. Braille users are especially vulnerable to finding that updates they're encouraged to get will cause serious crippling problems which then often take weeks or months to resolve. Making life safer for this kind of thing which happens to minority user groups must be a higher priority in a system which otherwise focusses on the bugs getting the most attention.
another wish for my personal situation would be for a way to better set stable relative volume levels for VoiceOver versus other apps whose audio output you want to be steady. Not many apps are like Nature Space which offers a separate volume level that's independent from the system volume level. I'm constantly having to adjust the level of music volume versus VoiceoOver if I want to hear both clearly. It was never a big problem using Windows.

First, I would like to see Apple address some of the bugs that people have reported and encounter on this list. No excuse for some of these like VO stopping speaking. Perhaps accessibility bug fixes shouldn't have to wait for updates as they do now but might be addressed with small, more frequent patches.

Second, I think it is imperative for Apple to upgrade Siri with the new AI technology that has rocketed to the forefront in recent months. I don't know if this requires throwing Siri out, but Apple really needs to keep up here. This technology is a game changer.

I want to not dread updating to IOS 17. It seems like every cycle we go through this business of Voice Over wigging out for certain iPhone users, and plenty others have no issues. So every update is a dice roll. Maybe what I really want is for the bugs to be consistent across all the phones, especially the phones the Apple accessibility people are using.
And, of course, you can't have that, but you can have a built in hot tub and hair drying hovercraft function that causes Voice Over to crash every five seconds.

I agree with Michael. VoiceOver needs a tutorial and independent volume controls for accessibility would be great. Android has had iOS beat in this regard for many many years. Of course, fixing bugs should also be top priority, particularly when there's no excuse. This website very clearly documents many issues, and a company the size of Apple should have no problem allocating some resources to making VoiceOver the best product it can possibly be. Sadly, blind people don't matter compared to other groups. Oh well, it is what it is. We can always hope for the best, though personally, I've come to find the old saying of preparing for the worst and hoping for the best is more true in Apple's case. Open communication is the answer, but that's not happening until Apple gets new executives, and even then, it may not.

Today, while my taxi driver was taking me from the company where I am interning to my home, he got lost on the way and was about to take me to my friend's house, which is still far from mine. He only realized he was mistaken 4.5 kilometers away from his house. Meanwhile, my sister sent me a message on WhatsApp, and after a while, I decided to open the native iPhone maps app and take a screenshot to show her where I was. However, after taking the screenshot, the voice-over got stuck on the capture screen button. When I pressed it, options related to the screenshot appeared, and the voice-over started lagging terribly, taking several milliseconds to respond to my gestures, make sounds, and speak the icons. This only got worse when I sent the screenshot to my sister, and the voice-over kept recognizing it on the screen, even though she told me there was nothing there. I decided to restart the voice-over to fix the problem.
Also, I totally agree with @Rafal about introducing more functions to the Apple Watch, as it is a device with a lot of potential and much to be explored.

I don't need it now but for those who are new to this whole accessibility thing; it would be really useful.

I've said it before but you'd really benifit from some typing lessons, it would allow you to not be as frustrated.

I understand this is off topic but I really feel this guy should learn this stuff because when he makes posts he dictates them and while that can work from time to time, it's hard to understand when it goes wrong.

Having said that, like I said before; a tutorial would be great for this kind of stuff, perhaps it could get people used to typing and things like that.

Just wanted to pop in to remind everyone (and hopefully keep expectations tempered) that unfortunately this thread is "too little, too late" to have any of its suggestions, recommendations, ideas, etc. seriously considered for inclusion into iOS 17. This is because the feature set for Apple's latest operating system releases, from iOS to macOS, is set in stone far in advance of WWDC each year so as to give developers time to work on outlining, evaluating, implementing, and troubleshooting said features. Of course with the public and private beta periods over the summer there will be time to have bugs fixed and refinements made, but headlining features and in fact pretty much the entire roadmap is already planned out in advance.

This is not to say that users should not, for example, submit feedback to Apple about things that work, things that are broken, or things that could benefit from improvement, especially when the betas of iOS 17 and other new operating system versions are released after WWDC next month. But it's also worth keeping in perspective that this thread and everything in it is only and will only ever be speculation as far as iOS 17 is concerned as there isn't time to implement new features (including any suggestion given here) into the operating system this late in development.

As for new ideas and all that; yeah, that's a good point.

I hope there's something for us blind people in IOS 17 but honestly; I'm not excited for releases anymore. There aren't any ground breaking things to get excited over, in my oppinion. I think Apple has gone as far as it's going to go with phones.

Perhaps there'll be a camra update here, some battery stuff there and maybe a ffolding phone in the future but they'd really have to pull out all the stocks to impress me now.

I agree with Brad's opinion. Apple hasn't impressed me since the announcement of the M1 processors. In my view, their updates have been incremental each year. Even the new headset doesn't excite me. It's likely to be very expensive and its design may not be practical for everyday use.

I want all the bugs will be fixed.

Hi everyone, the subject line pretty much says it all. Just to clarify. As in some cases with a lot of Samsung devices, they have a selection of touch sounds. My favorite one is the bubble. You know when you double-tap on an item. The, and more natural sounding voices. Also, I’d like the ability to choose what keyboard sounds you can use

Apart from fixing the Voiceover bugs (in particular the crashing and crashing and crashing bug, please) here's my vote: in previous versions I've asked for an app that prints money. There's clearly little point of that in a cashless environment. So this year, I'd like an app that goes up to the bar and gets my pint for me, having told me what there is.

It'd be nice if apple provided this for people. After iOS updates that heighten anxiety and introduce bugs year after year, it's the least they can do. Given the history of issues, I do worry about the possibility of things going wrong, but I'm confident apple would deal with that in the same way they've delt with everything else. 🤷‍♂️

I recently switch to iPhone, I suffered with one issue in VoiceOver. That is reading regional languages. For example in my case I will use two languages. English is my default language, and I will use Telugu to read news and some e-books. In android there is an application called auto TTS. It really helps a lot configuring at two or three languages which are important to us and it will switch to that languages seamlessly. But in VoiceOver I need to switch the languages continuously to read the text properly. Still now I liked the VoiceOver a lot except only this issue. If the VoiceOver fix this bag I never cares about anything else. For example I have a little bit concerns about Home screen customisation and also call log history not showing more than hundred call logs. These are negligible when I compare this to VoiceOver. If they improve auto switching languages issue I don’t want any updates in the VoiceOver except this.

Galaxy watches you can add a tone to each contact. Similar to the iPhone. Do not know why apple does not do so. Sane thing with notification. Galaxy does different tone for it. Again Apple where are them.

I'll echo Brad's wish for an AI-based SIRI replacement.

I agree with Jenna Pepper that I want bugs fixed. Besides, anyone who mentions Tim Cook hoisting a middle finger has my punk rock soul at heart.

just fix the darn bugs. I don't need anything else. No AI, no new voices, nothing. Just bug fixes and please dear God optomize VO! Makes this SE 2020 with 3 GB RAM feel like a 6 with 1 GB RAM.
