Apple Beta Releases

macOS 14 M1 MacBook Air
This also happened in Mac virgin Ventura
On all of my other MacBook devices, I could just press control plus option plus right arrow to go through things easier and faster, but now it won’t work any more on my MacBook Air M1
It used to work but now it doesn’t
I’ve tried resetting voice preferences and everything
What’s going on
Note nothing is wrong with my keyboard as I can control plus option plus right error perfectly, but to get through things, I can’t hold down control plus option plus error more to get through things which makes going through things way slower
Somebody please help me

If you experience a bug in Apple Beta Software, the most important thing you can do is to file a report in Feedback Assistant. Please do not assume that Apple is already aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference; your report may provide crucial information, and submitting bug reports directly to Apple helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority Apple is likely to give to fixing the bug.

If you are using beta software, please use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you are using a public release, this blog post explains how to report the issue and what information to include.

In 2025, AppleVis launched the Community Bug Reporting Program with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of information we share with the community about bugs in Apple software releases. As I said, this happened in macOS 13 Ventura as well. I wasn’t running the beta of Ventura, either
Well at least until a few versions in
But even before I installed macOS 13 Ventura beta, I still have this problem

If you read my comments here, it said that even before I tested macOS 13 and macOS 14 this issue is still happening even before I installed the pre-release software

If you control and option keys won't work when held down, it does sound like it may be a problem with one or both of those keys. Have you tried changing the VO keys?

I can use control an option keys like control/option/data arrow when in GarageBand when choosing what sound I want, but I can’t use control option right when I’m in an application system settings, I mean I can press and release control option right as per usual but I can’t hold them down to go through options like really fast which I can do on all of my other devices
And again it’s not a beta issue since it happened on stable version as well
Am I seriously the only one encountering this issue

I just tried it out in System Settings. I held down CTRL + Option and Right arrow and the focus moves very quickly as desired. Have you checked your keyboard settings under System Settings > Keyboard? There, you can set such things like key repeat and delay. On my machine, I have set it to:

  • Key repeat: 7
  • Delay: 4

To change the values, simply interact with the sliders and press CTRL-left/right arrow. Stop interaction when you're done and close System Settings, there is no need to press Save or anything else.

This might be a bug. I don't have a macBook so I can't test it out, but it would help to make sure that factor of it being in only system settings was in your ariginal post, so someone could more accurately reproduce it.

The strange thing is that it seems to occur also on the stable release version of Ventura. I have Ventura installed on this machine (Mac mini 2023) and all just works fine. I can test it tomorrow or so on another machine where I'm running the beta of Sonoma. However, I can remember that I've not encountered this issue there yet.
