One Key Navigation QuickNav Issue in Sonoma

Apple Beta Releases

Hi guys,

I've just upgraded to Mac OS Sonoma today and for the most part, it is really good and responsive. I've noticed an irritating bug this afternoon however which I'm currently trying to find a workaround for and before reporting it to Apple, was wondering if anyone else had experienced it?

Essentially, if you turn on Quick, Nav and then use one key navigation (for instance, H for headings, T for tables etc) in Safari, it works fine.

However, if you then turn off Quick Nav and attempt to type normally in any other app (finder, terminal, textedit etc), one key navigation is still active, even though Quick Nav is not, meaning that if you type H for example, it tries to find a heading.

Bit of an odd one this - have never experienced this in over 4 years of owning a Mac and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I've got a MacBook Pro 2021.

Thanks

For those who are experiencing this, Think I have just fashioned a workaround.

If you open the VO utility (VO + F8), select Commanders, then the Keyboard Commander tab, you can add a new command (I have assigned it to right Option + H) and assign the action to toggle one key navigation.

When you press it, and quick nav is off, it will enable it and turn on one key navigation - if you press it when quick nav is on, it will turn off quick nav and allow you to type normally.

Would the VO hotkey to toggle "Single Key QuickNav" work as an alternate work-around? VO + Q?

Oops accidentally posted the same thing twice. 😳

Create new activity, give it the name you like, maybe favorably Safari, then for the triggers select app and Safari, check QuickNav and then toggle that OneKey Navigation to on. Before you do that, make sure that QuickNav is off by pressing VO+Q.
