Hi all,
I just updated to iOS17 the other night, and so far I am impressed. VoiceOver is a lot more responsive than it has ever been on my iPhone SE second generation. However, I'm having one problem that is kind of annoying. Despite my verbosity settings under system notifications being set to speak count, when a notification comes in, the entire notification is read. How do I fix this?

Similar behavior
I have an iPhone SE 2020. I assume that's the same as yours.
I never fooled around with the verbosity settings you mentioned. But I have always used SIRI to turn on Do Not Disturb before I go to sleep at night, and turn it off in the morning.
And just the other night, even though Do Not Disturb was on, VoiceOver announced the 17.0.2 upgrade notification. And it did it twice, waking me up both times, before I finally turned speech off with a 3-finger double tap.
This sounds a lot like your issue. And it sounds like incorrect behavior.
Yes, we have the same phone…
Yes, we have the same phone. As I do not use Do Not Disturb, I can't comment there specifically, but it sounds like the same problem. I'm also not sure why speaking of banner notifications got turned off with the update, but I think I've solved that issue. I thought that was another bug with the new update.
This problem spontaneously disappeared
I had the same problem, so I set the verbosity setting to nothing, which is my preference. I then set it back to count, because I was intending to report the bug, and found it was working fine. That doesn’t help you much, but maybe it will do the same for yours.
