Be My Eyes is currently looking for a small group of Be My AI users who are based in the UK to join our Be My AI beta test in partnership with Colman’s. As part of the beta test, you will be asked to use Be My AI to interact with Colman's product in different situations, like:
Identifying Colman’s sauce in the grocery aisle in your local supermarket
Getting information about Colman’s products through Be My AI, including serving portions, expiry dates and nutrition information.
Cooking at home and trying out new recipes with Colman's products.
I have been involved with this project for a few weeks and it’s been a lot of fun.
If you’d like to be a part of this beta test, you’ll be sent some Colman’s products to use and test with the new Zappar accessible QR code reader, make test calls with Colman’s agents to simulate the kinds of calls they might receive when this feature goes live and maybe have some fun cooking with Be My AI by your side too.
Beta testers will be compensated for their time and input with a gift card as a thank you from Colman’s and Be My eyes.
If you’d like to get involved you can contact me by E-mail at [email protected] or text me on +447828833327.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Andy.

A question.
What's the difference between this barcode reader and Seeing AI's one? It honestly sounds like these guys are very slowly copying seeing AI.
Brad.
This is a different technology. It’s named Zappar Accessible QR code. Whereas Seeing AI would look up the reference number of the barcode on an online database. The Accessible QR code works from about 1 meter away and contains loads of information about the product. For example on the Colman’s Singapore noodles that I have, I get the name of the product, its nutritional information, recipes it can be used in, cooking instructions, packaging information, Contact information for Colman’s and a video call with Colman’s who have trained advisors ready to help blind people with their enquiries. It really is something new and exciting. Not just putting the 50+ year old barcode reader into their app.
Ooo.
That's cool.
I live in the UK but I think I'll leave this to others as I live with my family who do the cooking.
Unless the cooking part isn't required? If that's the case, I'll give this a go.
My only concern is that this barcode thing might be availible on only one brand, do you know if BeMyEyes will be moving to other brands as well? I'm assuming they need to get permission from the brand owners?
The idea is to get the barcodes on lots of brands.
Some massive and I mean massive companies are already signed up to it, ones with hundreds of brands. It’s going to take some time but lots are already planning on using the accessible QR codes. If you’d like to be involved, that would be great. You wouldn’t necessarily have to do the cooking yourself. You could do it with your family but just use Be My AI with them. Colman’s send you the sauces to use. It could be a fun family thing but thats up to you. The rest of the testing is about interacting with Colman’s, using the accessible QR codes and even going to the shop to see if Colman’s people can guide you to finding the shelf with Colman’s products on it then talk you through what you can buy.
Alright.
I'll contact you later on today.
I emailed you.
I'm awake so I thought why not.
I replied to the email.
I'll put my thoughts down here, if i'm allowed to, once this is done.
