Hello everyone,
In Windows on Bootcamp, there is an option to restart in Mac, from the Bootcamp ctrl panel. It's a nice way to do it so you don't have to hit option and go through the boot picker. Not that it is all that hard, but I like that in Windows, we get that option. We obviously don't have any such options in our menus on the Mac OS side of things, but would it be possible to create a shortcut or script that would force restart in Windows, and put that somewhere like the doc or desktop? I don't know how to do either Apple script or shortcuts, but if there is any way to pull this off, that would be awesome.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Bootchamp.
There's an app called Bootchamp, its posted in applevis, might do what your looking for. However given its so old... I've no idea if it would still work. Here's the link to the app entry in applevis,

I've never used bootcamp myself, i'm more of a, vertual machines kind of guy but, maybe it does what your needing it to do. Hope it helps.
Edit, just did a quick dig, and it should still work, you'll want to download the bootchamp 1.7, released in 2018, go to the developer's website, and go to downloads, you'll find it there as the last bootchamp entry, with the date next to it being 2018.
I never liked the way keys…
I never liked the way keys were mapped in a vm. Granted, they are still mapped the same by default in bootcamp, but that's where Sharpkeys comes in handy. Will take a look at this but have a feeling it may be to old.
If I understand what you want...
You can right-click or shift-f10 with nothing selected on a windows desktop and choose create shortcut, type shutdown /r in the edit field and name it restart.
I think they want it for mac.
This might help but my god is it fiddly: https://wccftech.com/how-to/sleep-shut-down-restart-your-mac-using-keyboard-shortcuts-how-to/
Thanks all, buyt in case I…
Thanks all, but in case I wasn't clear, I would like a shortcut inside Mac OS that would let me reboot in to Windows. In Windows, from the bootcamp icon we can right click, and select restart in mac os. No such option exists in Mac to restart in Windows from inside Mac OS. I think Bootchamp would have worked years ago, but has been discontinued.
Yes, I know I can set the startup disk in settings, or hold down option and select Windows after the boot chime, but I would like to see an option in the menu bar, or something I can add to my doc, that would force restart in Windows. I hope this makes more sense this time around.
Ah sorry.
I just did a quick search and can't find anything, a lot of stuff about alt tab but nothing about switching from the mac OS to the windows one with a shortcut.
don't know if this would work but,
You could ask chat gpt to write a script for you that when run, would switch startup volumes, and restart the mac. In theory it should work.
