Having problems with the Apple Magic Keyboard when using voiceover

Hi all,
I recently purchased an Apple Magic Keyboard with the main purpose of creating a comfortable working space when I don't have my computer with me. The keyboard looks quite good, offering a computer-like experience and is very nice. However, I am experiencing issues with the command key when using the keyboard.
The problem is not consistent, and I am unsure of when it occurs or why it happens. Sometimes, when I press a key on the keyboard, it is perceived as if I am pressing the command key, even though I am not pressing it. For example, when I press the letter "h" while writing something in a text field, it moves to the home screen as if I had pressed command+h. To resolve this issue, I have to press command, fn, caps lock, etc. several times.
You may think that this is a hardware problem, but I don't believe so. When the problem occurred, I activated the keyboard help and checked which keys were detected. Surprisingly, the command key was not detected even though I have experienced this problem. Therefore, there is no problem with the keyboard, but I am still encountering this issue.
Has anyone else gone through the same thing or knows how to fix it? Perhaps we could send feedback about it.
Sincerely,
[Mert Ozer]

Hello,

I think you might have sticky keys enabled. If you do, if you double press on a function key like shift, control, command, etc., it will lock the key so you won’t have to keep pressing it. To turn the sticky key function off for that function key, just press it again and it should go back to normal.

Also, you could have quick nav on, which is turned on by pressing either command + q or control + q. I would try turning on the keyboard help to resolve the issue. I don’t really use quick nav, but I know it is a VO keyboard command.

Hope this helps!

I just learned the command by playing around with the keyboard help setting.

1. Press the command + option keys (or VO key)

2. Press Q to activate/deactivate quick nav.

This should work.

Unfortunately, the sticky keys is turned off and quick nav is not active. So, there mast be another solution hopefully. Which version of the iOS are you using? Maybe that helps.

I am using iOS 17.2.1. Have you tried forgetting the device and trying again?

I’ve connected by using Type-c and bluetooth but it's the same... I don't know what to do at this point. I really liked this keyboard and Comfortableness but I may have to return it if it continues that way.

This is something of a reoccuring issue with iOS 17 and the Magic Keyboard. It sounds like the keyboard either needs a firmware patch, or iOS needs another update to resolve the issue. 🫤

Are you facing the same issue? Then we can send a feedback. Also, do you think that it's related to voiceover or not?

I don't use a Magic Keyboard, or any hardware keyboard for that matter, with iOS/iPadOS. I just did a itty bitty bit of research and found some articles, some Apple Support pages, and a Reddit post or two about the same or similar issue.

I believe it could be just another iOS 17 bug.

Can you send those articles? So that, I can refer to them in my feedback.
