Hello, everyone. I am seeking some input about slow cookers and IOS apps used to control them. I've read some info about the instant pot line. Is that the best for accessibility? I recall a poster saying that sighted assistance was needed for initial setup. Is this still true, or can you use something like Be my Eyes to accomplish this? I am buying this as a special valentine's day gift, for someone who has little to no vision. Thanks for any input, anyone can provide.

Do you need remote control?
I just turn the knob when I want my slow cooker on low, high, keep warm, or off.
If you do need remote control,
Then I'd recommend getting a wi-fi plug. It plugs into the power socket. Your slow cooker plugs into the wi-fi plug. wi-fi allows you to turn the wi-fi plug on or off and hence the slow cooker on or off. You just have the slow cooker already set to high or low, so all you need to do remotely is turn the wi-fi plug on.
An addendum
Also, regarding what Bruce mentioned above, apps like Be my AI (found within the Be my Eyes app) can help with figuring out your dial settings.
Slow Cooker
I wonder if you meant to ask about pressure cookers? Slow cookers, at least the ones I've seen and have, generally just have low, medium, and high settings with one control. Don't really need an app for that. Pressure cookers do have a lot going on though. Instant Pot, which can also slow cook in addition to pressure cook, used to be good. The older Bluetooth model's app is pretty good but you cannot get that model any longer. The newer WiFi model uses a different app, and the last I looked at it, it was not near as VoiceOver friendly, or user friendly for that matter. There are many others but not sure what is accessible. Oh about two years ago I checked the ChefIQ app, at that time it was not VoiceOver friendly either.
