Worth upgrading to iPhone 15 Pro?

Hi all.

I currently have an iPhone 12 Pro and I'm debating whether it's worth upgrading to the 15 Pro. I'm considering the Pro because I like using the Detection Mode - Text Detection is so much better than Seeing AI, in my opinion.

I'm a VoiceOver user, so obviously don't care about the screen or camera quality much (obviously it's important for blindie apps). USB-C would be a nice-to-have, as is the Action Button. Having a better battery would probably be the key reason why I'd upgrade, as well as a speed boost.

Has anyone else upgraded? What are your thoughts?

I don't mind holding off on the upgrade but I'm considering upgrading my Apple Watch SE 2020 to the Series 9 and have a gift card from trading in my iPad.

Go for the pro if you want and like it. I would wait for the watch X. It will be upgrated due to the 10 years for the watch.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that artificial intelligence announcements from Apple will be coming later this year. He has been downright giddy about the developments while keeping a lid on them. It is completely unclear if these will be limited to iOS 18 or if some of the AI functionality will be available only to iPhone 16 users. Many blind leaders believe in typical Apple fashion, the functionality will be both in the software and on the device. They further believe that iPhone AI could be highly beneficial to blind end users like Siri is. This is why I would wait until iPhone 16.

The AI features on phones like the Google Pixel and Samsung S24 series are really promising (and tempting, but I'm not switching ecosystems. Nothing against Android).

I also hope there's a purple colourm, as shallow as that sounds.

I wonder what changes would be coming to the 10th-gen Apple Watch?

Maybe I'll wait for September after all...

I also use the iPhone 12 Pro. I’m waiting for the 16 Pro due to the anticipated AI features in this model. By the way, does anyone know if Apple has improved the wide-angle camera in recent years? It could be useful with BeMyAI, but in the 12 series, it’s not very good.

A few have already given their opinions as to why you should wait for the next gen iPhone. Let me tell you my reason. . .

December 8, 2023:
I went to my local cellular provider to upgrade my iPhone SE 2 to a \ 15 Pro. Used the phone for just shy of 2 weeks. . . .

December 19, 2023:
Went back to the same location, because said iPhone 15 Pro overheated and bricked as a result. This happened on a charging cycle, and not an overnight charge either. The cellular provider replaced my 15 with a new one, as they have a 2 week policy on such situations.

I thought that was the end of it.

January 3, 2024:
I again went back to the same location. As once again I overheated my iPhone on a simple charge cycle. This time, they told me (after doing a diagnostic on the device) that I was stuck with it. Frustrated, I went to other locations, and eventually found one that not only had no issue with simply refunding my money, but they also mentioned to me that there have been a lot of complaints coming from the original location I visited. Complaints about customer service, etc.

In the end I never really found out what was causing the overheating, but I suspect it was the charging cable (that came with the device) or the brick that I had to purchase separate.

So moral of the story, wait for the 16.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I think I'll wait for the 16 Pro - very keen to see what AI features are released.
