Was just thinking I'd see what other people's opinions are on having BSI as an actual iOS keyboard option?
I've thought for a long time now that it would be useful to just open a text field and type straight away, you could then just swipe the keyboard away when you're done and the phone would return to normal usage?
What is everyone's thoughts on this one?
Just thought it'd be an interesting concept, but I might be talking a load of old junk haha

I think you'd create a mound…
I think you'd create a mound of unintended consequences. I can think of just a few examples where having BSI as my default, even though I use it a lot, would slow down my workflow:
* Login fields: I use a password manager, so when I double-tap a username or password field, I'm immediately going to the bottom of the screen to select the option to put in my username/password.
* Forms with data: Autocomplete is good for filling out names, addresses, etc by just entering that field and selecting that option on many sites.
Also, you can make BSI really easy to access by simply setting it as the first option in your rotor settings. By doing so it's only a single rotor gesture away.
Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Rotor > Rotor Items to change the order and enable/disable items.
Valid points
Yeah, I completely agree with what you've said, I'm just taking the idea as a concept or an option if you wanted it. I know google allows you to use it as default with a gesture to switch between your default keyboards.
But yeah, just a concept that I wanted to take opinions on
I Don't Think So But...
Back in 2018 just after I got my first iPhone, a tech tutor told me that BSI would probably not be the best option since it relies on Landscape mode and that mode didn't work well with VoiceOver. Is this still the case, or have things changed? I'd be curious to try this out with my eReader.
MBraille
MBraille might still have an option to use it as a system wide keyboard. I still use it in combination with Braille Screen Input, but not the system wide keyboard part, as it sometimes behaved contrary to what I needed. You might find it useful though.

No issues with VoiceOver in landscape, and thanks.
MBraille and me do not get o haha. I'm perfectly happy with BSI and how it works, I was just curious as to what everyone thought, just because I saw it on android.
Also, there are no issues with voiceover in landscape? I've used BSI for ages and other apps in landscape, and i've never found any issues.
Interesting thought, but the…
Interesting thought, but the problems already mentioned are all valid, plus accessing the emoji keyboard? I use BSI as much as, maybe more than a lot of people, but I still gotta have my emojis. lol
@Joshua
That's on android though. To my knowledge, this is an iOS question more than anything else. But hey, I'd be happy to be prooven wrong!
problem with quick action gesture.
hello, I've recently got an Iphone and the braille input is hawesome.
but I'm having a problem, the quick action, used to send messages on WhatsApp or messenger doesn't work.
I connected a bluetooth qwerty keyboard to do some things and after I disconnected and typing with braille this gesture doesn't work any more.
Is there a solution for this ishue? thanks in advance.
Julio, I haven't had this…
Julio,
I haven't had this happen in the same way, but that gesture does seem to be a bit tempermental. Sometimes it works, and sometimes not. It can be pretty
