Hi
is anyone able to help me to find a shortcut to speak the word count of a document in pages?
I normally use word but finding it buggy with braille so i switched to pages and i'm struggling to find a way to check my word count.
thanks

Shift-Command-W will display…
Shift-Command-W will display the word count either at the left or the right of document layout area depending on your settings and what else is also shown.
i tried this - just said "hide word count"
so the "show word count" was ticked but i can't find it once it's there, is there a command to move the focus to it or speak it?
When it says show word count…
When it says show word count deinteract until document layout area and a button labeled with the number of words in document/selection will be displaied at the left or right of document layout area (order of the elements shown with vo left/right).' Clicking that will open a dialog with infos like characters and etc. As far as I know there's no way to have VO speak that information.
In earlier versions…
In earlier versions of Pages, if you had Word count, checked from within the view menu at the top, you could see your page count from within the header controls, like where you can format, etc., your document. Not sure about the newer versions of Pages.
thanks - i'll try find it
yeah i'll try again with it checked and try look in the header controls
i think i figured it out
so i found that with it ticked - i just VO left when i'm in the body text and after the vertical scroll bar it will give me the word count.
now i just have to remember to do it that way!
thanks everyone
