If you are asking if you can take your iPad into, say a Starbucks, and use ApplePay to pay for a cup of java, then probably, providing that it has Near-Field Communication (NFC), and you have ApplePay setup on the iPad in question.
If you are asking if you can purchase an iPad with ApplePay, then, probably ...
I’ve shopped online and used Apple Pay with my older iPad Air 4 but don’t take it with me when going to a local store. That’s what my iPhone is for. I do intend to get an iPad Air 6, the current model with the M2 chip by the end of the year. They have been making them Apple Pay compatible for some time, years, so they aren’t going to take that away.
I need to address an important concern. Your ChatGPT answers are often very vague, unhelpful, or even incorrect, which is becoming a source of misinformation in our community. I suggest you refrain from answering questions unless you have personal experience with the topic at hand. It’s clear that some of these questions are outside your expertise.
Don’t get me wrong—I don’t mind using ChatGPT to correct grammar and improve clarity. However, simply copying and pasting responses doesn’t seem appropriate for a community member. If that was your intention, there are plenty of chat apps available for that purpose. If English isn’t your first language, you can always write in your own language and ask ChatGPT to translate it, which is much better than asking ChatGPT to enhance pre-existing English text, as it often introduces certain ChatGPT-isms that are disingenuous.
Please note that I’m not a member of the staff; I’m sharing this feedback as a fellow community member who is feeling a bit irritated by the current situation. I hope you understand where I’m coming from and consider this feedback to help maintain the quality and reliability of applevis.

Online only
The iPad to my knowledge does not have NFC. Apple pay works great online though, for example online stores.
