sharing VoiceOver audio on Zoom

I have a bit of an issue with Zoom on my iPhone and was hoping someone could jump in with some tips and tricks. this may be a bit of a long winded explanation, and I'll articulate this as best I can.

For work, I have to occasionally use Zoom on my iPhone and share my screen. The problem is that even though share phone audio is on, VoiceOver isn't able to be heard by the other person on the meeting. Instead, I have to use my computer, then join from my phone and share the screen, then hold the phone up to my headset microphone for audio which doesn't always work and am told the audio isn't very clear. I tried just using my MacBook speakers and they still can't hear it.

The best way I can describe this is that once I begin screen sharing, the quality of VoiceOver's audio is diminished to the point where it sounds like I'm on a phone call and put this call on speaker. I tried it after leaving the meeting on my phone and just scrolled through apps, holding the phone to my headset microphone and the person could hear it just fine.

I reached out to my team at work to see if they had any tips, but wanted to post here as well in case anyone here has had similar issues and would have a quick fix. If not, no worries.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Alicia. Hmm, do you work for Fable? Me too!

I am looking for a solution as well. I have a decent audio set up but still end up having to hold my phone up to the microphone I use with the PC. This puts me in an awkward position, and I have activated something unintentionally with my nose more than once. LOL Oh, and be careful touching near the top of the screen, as you can kick yourself out of screen share.

Hi Alicia.
I have not tried this yet myself and have been wanting to, there appears to be a way to share audio during a Zoom call.
After starting your Zoom call, and you are in the Zoom chat screen, go down to the bottom of the screen and find the Share button. It should be the third from the left. Next tap on Stream then tap on Start Broadcast.

After that, you can play around with it to see what it does. I’m wondering if others in the group then can hear Voice Over. I do know that when you are broadcasting your audio, don’t do the two finger double tap to start and stop audio. That messes things up. Go into the app that is transmitting audio and work the controls from there or go back into Zoom to control stuff.
Good luck.

Yes, it is Fable! Hilarious that you knew that. Would love to meet and connect with other testers! But that's beside the point. Thanks for the tip!
