Hi, how do I type to Siri in IOS 18.1? I have type to Siri turned on in settings but not sure how to invoke this feature from the home screen. Thanks

Hi Elliot2012,

To open Type to Siri, try a 4-Finger Swipe down. VoiceOver won't give you any indication that Type to Siri is open, but if you swipe around the screen or explore by touch, you should be able to navigate to the text field.

Hope this helps,
Michael

Thanks Michael, I know in a previous beta I had to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to to do this but will definitely give this a go now, thank you

When it comes up you will be able to open it via control panel. I think there is away tp put it in their.

Sadly, the gesture doesn't work at all (Siri just exits) when Apple Intelligence is off.

I suppose it makes sense, but darn and blast …

I have an iPhone SE 2022. No AI support, and I have this feature. Just go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Commands, Touch Gestures. From here you can assign something for Type to Siri.

HTH.

I was invoking Siri first. If I didn't do that, it'd work. Terrific, thanks. I can't have AI on because that introduces bugs into Mail and Siri's notification announcements.

With regards to Apple Intelligence, i'm not surprised it's still buggy. Since it's "debut", I think I have seen more posts on here asking how to disable AI features, over anything else AI related. This is just another reason why I am glad I do not have an AI compatible device, so I am not tempted to use buggy software.
Still, kudos for getting your issue resolved. ☺️
