If you're outside the very few countries where Meta's look and tell is supported you might be better off with the envision glasses. Personally I'm happy enough with just using my phone camera for now but I can see the appeal.
It all depends on what you're looking to do with them.
Envision glasses are geared toward blind people, so they will have features that are better than the metas.
I have the ray-ban meta smart glasses and they are wonderful.
I can pick up just about any object and ask meta what I am holding.
I can ask what I am looking at and get a quick accurate response.
The metas aren't so good at reading text, but for now I have seeing AI if I have a serious document I need read.
For me envision glasses weren't even a consideration because of their ridiculous price.
If you are considering the envision glasses at all, may I suggest you take a look at the agiga echovision smart glasses?
They do just about everything envision can do, and the pre-order price is significantly cheaper.
The good thing is that we have options and its only going to get better.
I've had my Meta glasses since Christmas and they are almost too good! I use them all the time to get the microwave instructions off of food packages and for the most part it's really accurate. I've heard many things about the Envision glasses, most of them not so good. From what I've heard, it's not completely hands-free unless you're using Ally; the text-to-speech is outdated and it uses Wi-Fi rather than your phone's Bluetooth to carry out tasks so using them on the go isn't practical even with a hotspot. I've also heard they're significantly bulkier. Ultimately, it depends on what you're looking for in a pair of glasses. Personally, I don't agree with the statement that Meta AI doesn't do OCR too good because more often than not, when I ask it to "read this document in full", it tends to read the whole thing out with surprising accuracy. I just got my meta glasses today and have set them up. I signed up for early access too, but don't know when or if that will ever become available for me to try. The glasses are nice, and I think they'll be very helpful. I got the skyler model with the blue transition lenses, but I wish there was an option for completely clear lenses. I have light and color perception, so things are kind-a weird when I wear the glasses. It's a small price to pay, though, for being able to read documents and identify objects hands-free. Still wish that Envisiion would have partnered with Meta instead of making their way-too-expensive glasses, but it is what it is. If I want to chat with my envision ally, I can use my phone for that.
I'd also be very surprised if third party lens options weren't available at some point.

I appreciate that people are eager to try something new. And my God, the meta glasses don’t work. They’re problematic at best. Everything is grainy, the be my eyes representatives can’t see anything. The AI is barely operational. It gets, I would say, 60% of things wrong. Wouldn’t it be better to wait for something a little bit better?
I got my glasses through Amazon. I will certainly read up on what I might be able to buy directly from meta, but I'm beginning to feel concerned regarding job security, so laying off unnecessary spending for a while would definitely be in my best interest. Still, browsing is free, right? LOL!
