Why you should use this extension:
Most websites are now already optimized for mobile browsers and Google itself ceased promoting AMP a while ago so AMP pages no longer make much of a difference in terms of loading speed or overall user experience. Using AMP also causes privacy concerns as you are still visiting a cached version of the page and loading the content from Google's servers (google.com), instead of actually visiting the website itself, if the URL in the address bar is something like "https://google.com/amp/domain.extension/content/". This also prevents tracking website traffic as it is not the website itself but a cached version that you are visiting. Remaining within Google's ecosystem gives Google the opportunity to track user behavior more easily, limit owner control and ad revenue, and decide on which page loads "faster"" and ranks "higher".
What’s an AMP page
Forgive my ignorance, but what is an AMP page?
Thanks, Dave
AMP
AMP stands for "accelerated mobile pages" and is an open-source framework to optimize mobile browsing by using various methods, including "lazy loading", streamlined HTML and restrictions on Javascript, to speed up page loading. While it sounds excellent in theory, it is actually Google's sneaky attempt at consolidating its control over the web and tracking user behaviors more easily by channeling mobile traffic through its own infrastructure by loading cached versions of pages from Google's servers rather than the actual content.
