It'd be great if Applevis had the following:

By Enes Deniz, 2 May, 2025

Forum
Accessibility Advocacy
  • Filter by Accessibility Rating: We should be able to filter the apps added to the app directory based on how accessible they are according to the ratings.
  • Filter by Price: We should be able to view or filter out free apps, free apps with in-app purchases or paid apps.
  • Filter by Keyword: We should be able to enter keywords and view the results that do (not) contain them, whether in the app name, App Store description, comments or elsewhere.
Note that most of these used to be accessible without even having to do any filtering and opening the app's dedicated page but they were removed for whatever reason I've been wondering ever since.

Filtering Results bye date of last comment. This was also there and was removed sometime ago.

I think it would be nice if we could know the specific forum to which a forum topic is posted prior to opening the post. For instance, I am only an IOS user and may want to skip posts on other forum. More often than not, the posters do not specify the device in their subject line. So, along with other info like the time of the post etc., could we also have the forum name of the post?

In fact in the non applevis section we do have the specific forum topic below the heading and I'd be glad to have it on the applevis posts as well.
Plus some more obscure threads like braille on apple products are often overshadowed and hidden by the more active forums, so maybe each forum could display as many posts as a user want? Like ios and ipados, braille on apple products, app dev and prog, all displaying the most recent conversations?
Thanks for the team who's working on this website, dev and mod, you are doing an incredible work guys.

I, too, would very much like to have the forum name listed on the main page. Thanks.

Here are a couple more things I forgot to mention earlier:
  • Search by app ID or App Store link/URL
  • Update the app entry page to make it better-aligned with the App Store page (reorder the required fields to follow the structure on the App Store)

Hi all,

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share feedback in this thread.

  • As Pilgrim Pete pointed out (thank you for finding this--I too thought this functionality was no longer available for whatever reason), it is possible to filter apps in the directory by cost and usability rating; as well as category. This is found on the 'Advanced Search' page at https://www.applevis.com/apps/search-ios.
  • I will continue to investigate adding the names of the forums to forum topics under the "Latest Apple Posts and Updates" section of the site. If this isn't something that I am able to do myself, it will require development resources from the Be My Eyes Technical Team. If BME resources are required, there are unfortunately other things with the site that need to take priority before we would be able to allocate time to this.
  • Adding the capability to filter out certain keywords from search results is something we can consider, but it would definitely require development resources and, as mentioned previously, there are other things on the roadmap well ahead of this.
  • For App entries and reordering fields, what do you have in mind? The layout of our app entries has not changed significantly since the site opened, but all ideas are welcome.

Thanks,

Michael
