Problems with pages on iPad with magic keyboard

I'm having issues with pages on iPad. I'm trying to write in it, but when the document gets to a certain length, it seems to display in multiple different text fields, and I can't write anything because when I press space, VO focus jumps. Arrow keys also don't navigate through text as they're supposed to.
I want to use pages, I like it. It's simple, has a nice interface, and is the best Rich text editor I've found. Docs isn't fully featured enough IMO, and word is to cluttered.
In short, is this a me problem? Or is it a pages on iPad problem? Either way, are there any solutions to it? It's driving me somewhat barmy.
