Looking for an accessible temperature control kettle

Hi everyone.
I'm looking for an accessible temperature controlled kettle for making tea. Ideally: it needs to go from 60 - 100 degrees, have either physical easy to use controls or have a fully accessible app, and I'd also like it to be plastic or glass, metal gets far to hot for my liking.

The best I have came up with over the years are kettles with a range of presets you can click too. The one I have isn't sold any more but it works by each press of the button moves up to the next preset. The Cuisinart 1.7l electric cordless kettle appears to work similarly. Although it is stainless which I know you said you don't like, and I don't think it has a gooseneck. https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CPK-17-PerfecTemp-1-7-Liter-Stainless/dp/B003KYSLNQ/ref=dp_prsubs_d_sccl_1/131-7723306-8256220?pd_rd_w=ojBVu&content-id=amzn1.sym.9023959a-379f-4911-bf85-9afa60b85373&pf_rd_p=9023959a-379f-4911-bf85-9afa60b85373&pf_rd_r=MYGXS2JWGS84ERWGEA2P&pd_rd_wg=paqYR&pd_rd_r=435292b5-b7c2-41b0-b4c9-eb66647d0416&pd_rd_i=B003KYSLNQ&th=1
I think the key is to stay away from the ones with fine every degree control, and especially those set with spin dials. As much as we'd like that level of control.

Metal, which I know you didn't want, but this is a bluetooth kettle that works very well. It has a range of temp presets, both in the app and on the kettle itself via buttons on its base. The buttons are unfortunately touch based, but there's a very defined ring around each, with the buttons themselves depressed slightly, so it's very tactile if you are ever in a position where app use isn't ideal. Hope this is helpful!

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check that out.
It certainly is a shame we can't have more control over the temperature.

I don't mind stainless steal as long as it works really. I'll check this one out. Thank you :)

Hi! Also interested in this as I drink a lot of Japanese Sencha, where the temperature is of utmost importance. I haven't tried the Ninja kettle, same company that does the air fryers and that. But was told it has tactile buttons, different temperature settings and even a function that keeps the water at the desired temperature in between brews.
I haven't tried this one myself, but sounds quite good and will most likely be the next kettle I buy.

Has anyone heard of this make? It looks like the kettle we've had for 10 years has finally boiled its last. Before I had a chance to even think about it, my wife had ordered a Weekett smart kettle. She said it looks like it has tactile controls and does a few different temperatures but also has A-lady support. The latter thing doesn't particularly interest me - typically you need to be near a kettle so you can fill it with water so the voice assistant doesn't seem that useful.

Anyway bit annoyed I didn't have time to research the accessibility. I have never heard of Weekett before.

At any rate I will report back.

This arrived yesterday and I can report that it is pretty accessible.

All the controls are on the base. They are all big sturdy buttons. From left to right are start, 70, 80, 90, boil and keep warm. So you just press the temperature then start and off it goes. As long as you can remember which button is which they are nice and easy to locate by touch.

The kettle is stainless steel I believe. The outside of it does get quite hot to the touch which I found out but obviously if you use the handle it is not a problem.

The spout is quite narrow. I've not had any big tidal events in the kitchen yet.

The cable is a little short which meant we had to move things around to accommodate it. But otherwise, so far so good. When I get time I might try figuring out the Alexa skill. Not because I need it but just out of curiosity.

I also have this kettle. Got it a month or so ago after our swann smart kettle kept boiling over and tripping the power. It is very, very good. It is actually quite useful connecting it to your WIFI which you can do through SmartLife. All right, I know SmartLife accessibility can be a bit suboptimal, but this bit wasn't too difficult. If you connect it to your wifi, Alexa will add it automatically. The advantage is you can use the alexa app on your phone for finer temperature adjustment. The shortness of the cord is deliberate and I like it.

Just one caveat: after we had ours a month, the wifi radio stopped working. No, I don't mean it couldn't find our network - I mean it couldn't find any network because the radio broke. Mrs Bingo reported that the wifi light wasn't even coming on, whatever we did. anyway I contacted WeKett support. got off to a bit of a false start when they sent me a template reply suggesting troubleshooting steps, from which it was obvious they had not read my email properly, but after I admonished them for this I've actually had bespoke, humanised support. They sent out a replacement no problem, which is still connected at time of writing.

It is very odd sometimes working in the city and receiving a notification that the kettle has boiled. I am able to tell whenever Mrs Bingo has made a cup of tea that way.

By mr grieves on Thursday, November 27, 2025 - 13:08

Is this a general purpose app? It doesn't look specific to WeKett. I guess I was expecting to have to battle with a specific WeKett own brand app to get it setup. But I can do the whole thing with SmartLife?

I'll give it a try if only so I can be alerted when stealth tea is being made.

By Bingo Little on Friday, November 28, 2025 - 10:35

Indeed, it's that one. Bingo uses it for the kettle and for the wifi thermostat heater in the garden office. Indeed, I'm in the garden office now and am about to switch the kettle on so that by the time I walk the 30 yards or so to the kitchen I'll be good to go for a cup of tea, thereby boosting productivity and economic growth, unlike rachel from accounts.

Thanks, and sorry for hijacking this thread a little, but how do you add it? I start the app and it lists about a million smart things I can add, from cat litter trays, to mirrors to irrigation systems, but no kettle. So I chose Other, but I then get locked into a subscription screen. You add a device, it tells you to subscribe. You click no, I'll use the limited version and it brings you back to the screen where you can add a device. And around and around you go. There also doesn't seem a way back to the start any more, although maybe I need to reboot my phone. No way I am subscribing just because I want to play with a feature I will likely not use.

I have been a bit restricted by time the last few days so not had much to devote to this so maybe I've missed something obvious.

There are QR codes in the instructions and I would guess that will be to get the official app - I might give that a go at some point.

By Bingo Little on Monday, December 1, 2025 - 16:49

You don't need to pay anything to subscribe - you just need an account. Once you've done that, the adding process shouldn't be too difficult. Make sure your kettle's wifi radio is switched on. Do this by holding down the 100 degrees button (second from the right) until you hear a beep. a wifi light should come on. It should then discover your kettle reasonably easily. I don't know if it is possible to do any of this without an account but I don't think it is.

There is no companion app as far as I know. SmartLife is the one they expect you to use.

By mr grieves on Monday, December 1, 2025 - 17:41

OK, well that comment meant nothing to me. So I thought rather than just pathetically asking everything on here I would look at the WeKett support site.

The app is not the one I pasted above. It is this one: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/smart-life-smart-living/id1115101477 Opens external website.

The one I pasted seemed to think that adding any devices to my smart hoe at all was a premium feature.
Anyway now I have the right app your comment makes sense.

Apologies for being slightly pathetic - been trying to do this in the odd 5 minutes here and there rather than actually trying to figure anything out for myself.

Honestly COSORI is a very good brand. We have there oven as well.

By Bingo Little on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 - 15:15

I'm sorry for misleading you. I should have been more assiduous in checking you had the right SmartLife App. anyway now you're up and running I'll have two sugars, please.

By mr grieves on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 - 17:46

No need to apologise - I was being a bit helpless before. I didn't really realise that this was the proper WeKett way of doing it. I thought maybe the Smart Life app was just the blind friendly way to do it. Anyway, all good.

Well not that I've actually got round to setting it up yet. :)

By Faerie on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 - 23:36

I'm watching this carefully as I actually lost my last kettle in the move. As of now I'm actually content to use the coffee maker that came with said new house, but if that ever changes, I will probably want something I can control digitally. I also love the idea of having hot water before I even get out of bed. Not sure of the WeKett is in the US, but I've noted it down to investigate, regardless! Thanks for the discussion!

By Travis Roth on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 - 02:51

Oh no! Your tea will be flavored with coffee if you use the coffee maker. I get the convenience of it already being there though.
At least according to Amazon U.S., nothing comes up when searching for WeKett. They have some other smart kettle, no idea about it.
My kettle question is: why are all gooseneck kettles so small?

By Quinton Williams on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 - 17:57

I'd also love to find a kettle which is sold here in the US that is accessible and works well.
It sadly sounds like the one mentioned isn't available here.

I finally got round to pairing this and wanted to add some notes as it was not that obvious.

Firstly, as I said above, make sure you install the correct app as there is more than one called Smart Life. It is this one: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/smart-life-smart-living/id1115101477

When you first install it, you need to register. (This involves giving your name, email and a password as well as completing an email verification. All quite accessible. You can go in as a guest but not sure what that does). When you then get to the home screen it has a button to add a device. Don't use this - it takes you to another screen with a Scan button that then tries to do a QR code scan. There is a QR code in the manual but this just takes you to the app download page. So ignore QR codes entirely. This whole screen totally confused me.

Instead, from the home screen,, turn on Screen Recognition, then you should find a "Menu" button. Go in here, then Device Management. In here is an Add Device button. This will then ask for various permissions and will scan for the kettle. I'm not sure if you need to hold down the boil button for a few seconds or not. I had already done this a couple of times but the wifi light had already been blinking so I'm not so sure it's needed. The kettle should appear in the list and you can double tap on it. You will then be prompted for your wifi password and then you're done.

So Alexa did not automatically find the Kettle, or at least I was impatient.

To set it up with either A lady or G man, you find the kettle in the app, then choose Compose, then third party integration . From there you can choose either and it is then easy enough.

The "Compose" button confused me a little until I mashed it in desperation. I also had gone to the Alexa app thinking I was supposed to add it from there.

The WeKett support page has a very helpful YouTube video that plays music and does not speak until it tells you that it was added successfully. However PiccyBot did a great job of explaining it to me.

[Edit] - I suspect if you link the Smart Life skill to Alexa then it will automatically add the kettle. But as I hadn't used it before it wasn't there. However, going through the third party thing did set it all up.
