Hi All,
New to posting here but have looked up info here for years. I'm trying to test some web sites for accessibility using iOS with Voiceover running and an Apple Magic Keyboard. When trying to navigate a table in the same manner as I'm used to with NVDA in Windows where you can use the arrow keys to navigate in 4 directions and either hear table data cells read and their associated row and column headers, it seems like I'm stuck with using just the right arrow and even then, don't hear the row or column headers announced. Is there a proper way to get that functionality?
Started out trying to compare how Tableau data is read by NVDA and on looking at the same content, am once again reminded of how little I know about voiceover on iOS for such navigation and tasks.
Thanks

have you looked at settings>accessibility>voiceOver>commands?
Or the IOS VoiceOver Users Manual?
Checked numerous sources first
Bruce,
Yes, I checked both Apple's keyboard navigation guides and once specific to keyboard use with voiceover on iOS. Even tried a few of their other options mentioned for say one character quick nav with some working as expected, other not.
A colleague who is quite proficient as a native full time screen reader user gave me feedback that Tableau seems to only be accessible with screen readers in Windows.
Have you tried interacting, and using Control plus Option?
In Windows, One typically navigates a table with control plus alt plus arrows. In macOS, one typically has to interact with things, before they can navigate within that particular object or element.
So my question is have you tried interacting with a table, and using the Control plus Option keys specifically, along with the arrow keys, to navigate through the Rows and columns?
Just so we are clear, interacting is optional within iOS as well.
Just a thought ...
Why aren't you using the Voiceover keys?
Why are you trying to use arrows by themselves? If you've got a site with a table as an example I'll try checking it out. I'venever navigated tables on iOS I don't think, but for Mac I just use VO and the arrows. Pretty much works everywhere.
Rows Rotor
Have you tried using the rows rotor when focused on a table? I'm not sure VoiceOver on iOS has native keyboard commands to navigate tables, but I do know you can turn the rotor to an option called rows and then flick up/down/left/right to navigate the cells.
