Is it not possible on Mac to add more than one voice in the same language to the VoiceOver rotor?

Recently, I needed to make a recording in English and wanted to add several English voices to the rotor on my Mac. When I had only one additional voice added, everything worked fine — I could switch between the two VoiceOver voices without any issues.
However, when I added several voices in English, I suddenly couldn’t switch between them at all.

Do you experience the same thing? I seem to remember that it used to be possible to add multiple voices to the rotor — or maybe I’m just misremembering?
My current system version is macOS 26.0.1.

Thanks in advance for your replies.
Warm greetings 😁

I just wanted to add something, because I’ve literally just discovered it while checking again how things behave today. It’s now even more interesting than when I first described my situation to you.

At the moment, I have one extra voice showing up in the rotor — a voice I once added but later removed, along with its entire synthesis from my Mac.
And yet, that voice is still there, while the new voices I added earlier are completely missing.

I also can’t change the speech rate of this “ghost voice” that supposedly doesn’t exist on my Mac — and yet somehow, it’s still there.
