Voiceover delay in Tahoe 26.1 moving through elements

Hey,

So I'm not sure if it’s something I've just noticed and am now fixating on, or if this has been introduced in Tahoe 26.1, but voiceover has a very slight delay reading elements in web pages, slight but noticeable... Annoyingly so.

Is anyone else getting this? I get it when moving through headings or tabbing through elements. I'm using the Alex voice.

Or am I just going mad!!!

Again.

It's not latency as such, there is a click as the element comes into focus. An example is on the home page of Apple Vis and the Be My Eyes link... Click... Pause Be my eyes...

It doesn't seem to be voice dependent. Another example is in commenting here. "Subject" and "Commment" are read without delay, everything before that is read with a beat of delay.

I do have 'beeps on for links, so maybe that's what it is...

I'm flipping between being convinced it's a new behaviour and then that it isn't. The pause is certainly there though.

Have you tried backing up your VO settings, and then resetting VO?

Just tried it. Still got the pause. It makes navigation rather arduous.
