Exciting news! I am especially grateful to hear that split-tap has been improved on Android. Also, I love that they added a browse mode feature to the hardware keyboard functionality, even though I am not a keyboard samurai when it comes to smart phones. π€
Although I always have my reservations with these companies, itβs cool that we have gained the ability for split tap, and double tap dictation. At some point, Iβd really like to try an android phone and put it through its paces.
I do think Split tap will be quite nice once it makes it to other devices. I can't count the times I've gone to split tap something only for it not to work. Oh yeah, this is Android. Duh!
Also, I would like to see magic tap for dictation work not just with gBoard, but with the talkback Braille keyboard too. I don't use dictation all that often, but might be more likely to do so if that were possible.
Glad to see Talkback getting better with each new release.
Haven't gotten the update yet, as they tend to roll out somewhat slowly, but based on the "what's new" I wouldn't expect anything major in performance.
I tried that last time, didn't know that I needed to use a special app installation tool, kinda broke talkback. Could I figure it out and do it with that tool? Maybe. But there's nothing in there I desperately need. Nice to have, sure, but I'll just wait a few weeks.
I have a few things I wish to say on talkback 16.2. First, there's not much of a performance improvement. Seocnd, I like the idea of the new browse mode for some apps, that works when you're not in a text field. I have a theory as to why that's being addedd, which is because of the rumored aluminum OS that google is coming out soon. One issue I've been having with talkback and my pixel is sometimes, my back, home, notification center, and recent apps gestures will stop working randomly. With talkback 16.1, the workaround would be to disable handling of gestures with talkback, and that would fix the issue. Now, that doesn't seem to be the case.

I love the update
Split tap everywhere only works on pixel for now but i herd itβs coming later in a update to all phones
Re: split-tap
I think that is going to be a game changer for other Android models when that happens.

are there performance improvements?
Especially when using swipe gestures to navigate, has the performance improved or is there still a quite noticeable delay when the list scrolls
IT'S THE SAME AS IT'S ALWAYS BEEN
it's the same as it's always been, it's not bad on my S23+
