Okay, I'm in iOS26.2 and I'm having difficulty trying to compose a message in the messages app. Every time I try to enter a name in the 2 field using a bluetooth keyboard, it moves me to whatever button is after the edit box. and yes, I double tap on the edit field to interact with it, and it states that quicknav is off, this arrow quick nav, that is, which should imply that it's okay to start typing. but, when I do, it takes me out of the edit field. What am I doing wrong here?

solved the problem
make sure that single quicknav is not on as a default, or if one must have it on, make sure to do a ctrl+option+q to shut it off before typing into edit field.
