macOS and Mac Apps

Hello everyone, I'm really excited to finally share my first cross-platform application with you all!

what is Flux?

Do you spend a lot of time listening to podcasts, music, or streaming audio on your computer, but feel like you’re constantly jumping between different apps or browser tabs? That’s the problem Flux is trying to solve. Flux is a desktop app for macOS and Windows that brings several common media experiences together in one place. Instead of opening a browser for one thing, a separate app for another, and trying to keep track of where you left off, Flux gives you a single app with clear sections for different kinds of listening. Inside Flux, you’ll find dedicated areas for podcasts, music playback, online content, and internet radio. Each section is focused on its own job, so it’s easy to switch between catching up on podcast episodes, tuning into a radio station, or playing audio you already have saved. The built-in media player handles all playback directly, so once something is playing, you can stay in Flux without bouncing elsewhere. Whether you’re listening for a few minutes or settling in for something longer, the goal is to make the experience feel simple and predictable. Flux is available in two editions. The free version lets you explore the core experience and see how it fits into your daily listening. The premium version removes limits and adds extra functionality for users who want more flexibility and control. If you’d like to learn more, see what’s included, or try Flux for yourself, you can find all the details here

Lol I was wondering when you were gunna put this up here.

I just thought I would let people know that this program links to the AudioVault. The AudioVault allows someone to download audio description tracks to movies and TV shows. I am fairly certain this violates United States copyright law.

By Joseph King on Saturday, December 20, 2025 - 16:53

My apologies for being off topic, but Blind Mice Mart also has a movie vault of described films, and no complaint has been lodged against that particular thing as far as I'm aware. Yes, flux *does* link to the audio vault, but short of that and the Blind Mice Movie Vault, obtaining described films or tv shows is not the easiest proposition to undertake. I suspect similar complaints would be made if it connected to apple tv, netflix, Etc. If you have a concern, inform those in authority about it.

By Joseph King on Saturday, December 20, 2025 - 17:03

The audio does not let you download the *description tracks* to tv and movies, but rather audio tracks of said tv shows and movies with the description already added. Nevertheless, the point I made in my last comment still stands, as does the course of action that should be taken if you are truly concerned about such things. Thank you, and good day.

By Jonathan Candler on Saturday, December 20, 2025 - 19:11

Why are people such up and arms about this. So what! Blind Mice Mart does the same thing and no complaints are had. Stop complaining just because audio vault leeks copyrighted stuff. It's the same exact, thing! Who cares! Man I swear, Blindies need to stop picking on things for the sake of choosing what things they wanna pick on. If you're gunna go after the vault you might as well go after BMS! The hypocrisy annoys me to no end! Do your homework and stop bashing for the sake of bashing. Just... Stop! Now, as for Flux, I like it a lot and pretty sure yall will like it too. Hopefully.

The Blind mice movie vault has nothing to do with the Flux application. I actually would call out the Blind mice movie thing if it was relevant to Flux because that content is illegal as well.

By Jonathan Candler on Saturday, December 20, 2025 - 20:08

What does Flux have to do with any, of this. That makes no logical sense. All it's doing is downloading and streaming from that site, something of which, you can actually do from your web browser thank you very much! Same concept! If you're gunna go after flux then you need to go after web browsers downloading and streaming from them sites that use copyrighted content.

Hi Jonathan,

Ben raised a legitimate and factual concern about functionality that Flux offers. I met the gentleman behind Flux many years ago--long before he was developing apps--and greatly respect him personally, but I do share Ben's concerns about that particular aspect of the app and the external service it links to. I don't think it is fair to criticize Ben for bringing this up, and saying things like "You see how dumb that sounds now? Don't sound that much intelligent does it." serves only to escalate things when civil discourse is what is needed.

I'd like to know why people are indeed worried about this then. Here's the deal. Why is it a big deal then a program such as this does the same exact thing than if you were gunna go to said website on your web browser and do the same thing from there? Why all the trouble.

By Ben Swiggett on Sunday, December 21, 2025 - 01:22

When you fire up your browser and download a file from AudioVault, you make a choice to do that. Your web browser is not advertising it you have to had heard about it from somewhere. You take any risk that comes with it.

Now lets say you bought Flux, and you have never heard of AudioVault. You start using it because you figured you purchased this program everything must be above board. Now lets say a few months go by and AudioVault gets taken down because one of the big movie studios found out about the audio files hanging around. Now, you as a user could be at risk. Why? Because you downloaded a couple of seasons of that show not realizing that was illegal. On top of that, if investigations were to be conducted, even those people who bought Flux could be in some legal trouble even if they never used AudioVault.

I know you are thinking; this won't happen, but the people who downloaded music back in the early days of the internet thought the same thing until they got caught.

The main problem is this developer offers AudioVault as one of the services his app links to. He is essentially promoting piracy. He could also be putting the people who purchase his app at risk.

I would say audio vault is more of a gray area in terms of copyright regulations. Firstly, none of the downloadable content has any video attached to it whatsoever. These are purely audio files. They consist of tracks from the film, as well as audio describe tracks. Our sighted peers could care less about audio only video, film or television.

Furthermore, some of the audio described tracks are actually produced independently by members of audio vault directly. So, while This is likely an arguable statement, I would dare say that some of the material is actually property of Audio Vault. Also, if you pay attention to the welcome paragraph on the main website...

Welcome to the Audiovault. This site contains the audio only portion of audio described film and TV shows. It is not intended to deprive copyright holders or service providers of income. Rather it is a small Project designed to make it easier for blind people to find and access audio described content that is spread across multiple platforms and countries. No video is hosted on this site. Nobody profits from this endeavour. It operates on donations from the small userbase purely in order to maintain the site.

As you can see, no video is hosted on the site. This is meant to be a nonprofit resource. Sure, you could go after them, you could wave your banner of self righteous indignation at the Service provided, but really, all you will be doing is taken away a resource for the blind.

Agree. Some of you please do your research on this matter before you start spreading round misinformation that don't need to be spreading round. Some people. And you can't compare this to sites that let you download a music for free, this is totally different. And regarding piracy, this is nothing like it! Like I said, if you're gunna go after things like this ya might as well go after everything that provides this service! You do realize that Cerotek hosted the same content and not once were they viable for copyright. I'm only bringing that up because they use to host movies with descriptions I'm not sure if that's still a thing or not but it was there and nobody complained there either! How about before discussing copyright and deciding on what some of ya think needs to be done, how about yall get a lawyer because at this point, I don't wanna hear about your issues with copyright until you get one! Face it, it's clear that some haven't done their homework here. Oh and I'll add one more thing because I do not feel like making another comment. Why, now, did some ya have to pick the time to pick on the vault. Is it because Flux is apart of that because if it is, that's not even a good argument! If you're gunna go after the vault, you better be going after BMS as well. Oh and I do not buy the argument regarding flux verses web browser access. You're doing the same, thing because you have a choice. You have a choice to buy flux and download from there! You have a choice to use your web browser and go to said site and download from there as well. Please, leave it alone or go after every, single, thing because I promise, going after a product just because it's not on your terms don't look good at, all! You better believe if Flux had access to blind mice smart yall would be doing the same thing. So no, I don't wanna hear it!

To start with, I want to first say that I have lookede at this program, and so far I like the ease of use that the program has. Second, I might even consider buying it, because having multiple things that I use in one interfae is something I like to have. The fewer programs I have to use to accomplish something, the better.
Now I want to dive in to this hole this program does illegal things issue. First, seretek still exists, and as far as I know, the service is still active. It does still have audio descriptions and shows, and both apps for android and IOS have been made for it. In this, audio vault is no different, nore is flux. Flux is simply giving users an alternate method of accessing material that already exists somewhere else. Serotek provided those movies and shows, but where do you guys think they got them? The blind mice group does the same thing I dare say. There was a website that I used to have access to mini years ago, that gave you almost anything you could ask for in audiol. Books, Tutorials, lectures, movies, series, you name it. If we break this down, FLux isn't on it's own doing anything illegal. And as far as someone's argument about how they could just access the audio vault without knowing about it, not true. The audio vault access requires an account, and I doubt that someone is going to create an account tot he site, then act like they don't know about it, just to get an app developer in trouble. I like this app, and I definetly may consider buying it. That is all for today everyone. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programs.

And that's how you get back on topic. And noted. I didn't know that movies still existed on Cerotek. I thought they did away with the whole thing because they were shifting their focus on different products. Shows how much I keep up Lol.

Hi,

Awesome app! I'm lisrening to a youtube video, and it's encredible! it's an all-in-one solution for listening to youtube videos and other contacts without switching to verious apps and browser windows. What I love about this app is to stream the audio version of the video, as well as downloading the mp3 version for storage on the computer. I love it! thanks for develping this simple app. the keyboard shortcuts work globly even when I'm in a different window.
