Hi All. I'm not sure how many people have experienced this. What has for a long time been very accessible to use - the amazon app - started being problematic for me. i kept getting "current location" announcements within the detail of a selected item to the degree that it sometimes became impossible to use. it took me some time to figure out why! if you are having this problem, select voiceover quick settings with two finger quadruple tap from within the amazon app and disable live regions and announcements.
I'm putting it out here because it has been extremely irritating and until recently couldn't find a solution. hope it is helpful.

Amazon’s been aware of this issue. I would suggest reaching out to accessibility at amazon.com and pushing for a fix. They suggested the same work around that you are recommending.
