Intermittent Dropped Connections

Hi.

Every now and again, the server drops the connection mid-flight and Safari gives an error that says the server stopped responding. This happens when surfing, and also when submitting a form. In both cases, a simple refresh suffices to confirm that the request or post was made, although it can be quite alarming when the form fields are cleared and you have to go back to get the contents back if they weren't sent. There is no apparent rhyme or reason to it and it basically occurs at random, though infrequently enough that it's not showstopping. And, so far, it's only been on my iPhone, whether or not I'm on Wi-Fi. the site is of course completely allow-listed so it's not any content blocking.

Anyone else? Is the team aware?

Cheers.

The very act of posting this topic caused the problem. This time the error from Safari was that "Safari couldn't connect to the server". This is obviously useless, but hopefully you can now trace it more easily.

Once 5 days ago when trying to access the home page on iphone safari. All other sites before and after were working fine.
It fixed itself aftar a few minutes.

Have seen this frequently over the past month. Using Brave on iOS. Seems less frequent with Firefox/Brave on Windows, but something's still up.

Hi Sebby and all,

This is not something we were aware of, so many thanks for letting us know. I have escalated this issue to our development team and will report back when I have an update.

Thanks again!

I'm glad I'm not alone with this frustrating issue. The connection dropped the very moment I attempted to submit my thoughts on Val. As a side effect my comment got posted twice so of course had to delete one of them. iPhone 16+ running iOS 26.5 on Wi-Fi. Very stable connection at my end and does not drop out anywhere else.

I’m just confirming I have definitely gotten the message that Safari cannot open the page because it couldn’t connect to the server. I’ve seen this on both of my iPhones, which is an iPhone 15 and an iPhone SE 2022 both running iOS 26.5 glad that escalated this issue to your development team. Thanks for everything you guys do to keep the site running.

Hi all,

We are trying to identify what exactly is causing this issue.

If you are willing, please if the issue happens again, could you please take note of the date/time and post it in a comment here? Our development team will then be able to check the logs to see what exactly is happening.

Thanks!

Hi AppleVis Team,

This has not happened to me. Are you all guys typing the URL correctly? One more thing. What type of network are you all guys using?

Best Regards,
Ayub

Wed 27 May 2026 22:59 BST, just as I posted a comment to the router thread.

The only problem with posting your comment here is sometimes a very active trying to post the comment causes the error message, but the page cannot be opened because it couldn’t connect to the server. I am on both a hotspot and cellular data when this happens my iPhone SE is using my iPhone 15 hotspot. My iPhone 15 is using cellular data as I do not have the ability to afford Wi-Fi for my house.

It's not a problem with the address. When it happens, a refresh pretty much always fixes it. I have had it when posting a comment, but I think a refresh did cause it to be posted ok.

It's not that often - it's not happened at all this week so far. So I think it's probably pot luck whether it happens to you or not. At the weekend I tend to catch up a little on posts and because I'm looking at a number of things the chances of it happening go up.

Thanks Sebby, I've sent your note along to our developers for investigation. 😊

Hi Michael,

I actually experienced this twice earlier today. In both cases, submitting a reply produced a failure to connect error, but refreshing the page showed the comment had posted successfully. Interestingly, I haven't encountered the issue while simply browsing the site, which makes me wonder whether it might be specific to form submissions.

Here are the two replies in question:

Hope that helps the team track it down

I’ve experienced this on both of my devices just browsing website. I get the same message each time I could not open the page cause it could not connect to the server. Of course at this moment, I’m not, but I have experienced it with just browsing website and trying to post comments so it don’t seem to be specific to for posting and posting I guess what I meant to say. Again just for the records my devices are an iPhone SE 2022 and an iPhone 15 both running iOS 26.5.
