Accessibility Comments

This is fully accessible, and the developer did so with intent. He's open to feedback, so be sure to contact him. All in all, very well done.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

A very solid MUD Rammer replacement. The in-app purchases are to support the developer, which I recommend.

It’s a pretty nice mud client, however, I think it really needs some work. For example, This sounds for triggers, you can’t even hear them before you select the one you want. Also, the sounds are very few and far between unless you can add them from your Files app or whatever you use. Now that would be interesting, being able to use customizable sounds. One more thing I have noticedjust likethe one who posted this said, it does not announce your text as it comes in.

I did send them feedback. I also mentioned possibility of adding ambient sounds. Cause I noticed that there are no mud clients so far with ambient sounds that we can place in certain areas such as forests, spaceships, landing pads, whatever else you use and whatever game you play.

So when I search up a mind, it gives me a host and then the port, but in the app, I don’t see anywhere to put in the porch number. I tried doing it anyways, but whatever I did didn’t work if anyone has a way of adding new MUDS I would appreciate it if they would post something here.

Hello everyone,
So some good news. The developer is doing his best to improve VoiceOver support. Therefore, I'm editing my accessibility comments to reflect that.
Be sure to send accessibility suggestions his way. He states, and I quote: "Seriously, keep the feedback coming. People like you are exactly who I'm building this for."

Adding MUDS can be done by selecting the Add server or quick connect popup button. It's the first element on the screen. There are two buttons within it. The Add Server button will take you to a dialog, letting you enter the host, port, and edit tons of settings you will find useful. The Quick Connect button is just what it sounds like. You type in the host, the port, and connect.

Hello everyone,

I'm Steve - I'm the developer behind Mud Portal, the iOS MUD client a few of you have been kind enough to try to write about. I made a account so I can be where the conversation actually is, instead of hearing about it secondhand *smile*.

A bit of honesty: Initially I didn't set out out build "an accessible app" as a checkbox - I built a MUD client I wanted to exist, and tried to make VoiceOver a natural fit. Hearing that it landed well means a lot, and the loss of MUD Rammer is a big part of why I wanted to get this right and keep it going.

I read feedback closely and note items such as incoming text not being read aloud, previewing trigger sounds, and wanting more (and custom) sounds have all been heard, and I am working on these for the next update. Again it's just me, so any feedback is taken seriously, hopefully I can improve what I have out there. Please keep it coming, including the stuff that's broken or annoying. I'd rather hear it bluntly than not at all, and I'm especially interested in what would make this a real daily driver for you.

I am adding a "Pro" version, adding some limits to some new features that I'm adding in, I don't foresee this hindering any MUD experience. The Pro Version is also VERY low cost, just looking to see if I can get assistance covering the developer fees each year. Always welcome to do the tip-jar.

Thanks for the warm feedback so far, and for being so generous with your time and testing. I'm around - fire away.

I have noticed that voiceover does not read the text from the beginning of a new line in the mud. I don’t know if this is possible, but is there a way to fix that? Because when I try to look at my surroundings, it starts reading in the middle of a word sometimes. It’s usually already two lines or three lines down. I do appreciate you making the imported sounds. I also have another question, how many triggers and sounds can we import before we have to pay.

i just recently got a 17 pro max, so lost access to mud rammer, so may give this a shot once it can read incoming messages.also, any plans for a mac version? Mud clients on mac are very few!

Good afternoon,

Version 1.2.1 is awaiting approval as of July 1st.

I've adjusted so the iOS can be version 18 or above, it was set at version 26 so might have left some older phones and ipads out.

@Exodia - I've adjusted the voice over slightly in the new release let me know if that helps. I recommend the "Queue" setting, as the "Interrupt" is aggressive, not sure how I like it if anyone does like it please let me know and I'll make sure I keep it in there.

#2 You asked about how many triggers, if you have VoiceOver turned on, there is a slight but that bumps the standard 100 triggers for free to 200 triggers ... call it a bug or an allowed bug, it's staying *smile*. If you have the subscription (Super cheap per year) or the lifetime then I'm pretty sure it is unlimited, so add as you need them. It could make game play a little slower if you have that many, please let me know and I'll see if I can improve the app performance on handling them.

@Jimmy I do have plans for a Mac version it is currently in development, I am glad you asked. I come from the 90's when zMUD was all the rage. Shoot me an email [email protected] and I'll flag your email address so once it's done I'll reach out. I am working toward making like the iOS version, but of course there is so much room for other things.

Next iOS version is still in development.
v1.2.2 will be released in a 2-3 weeks. There was a request for Log Files. The Log files are saved, but they aren't viewable, that'll be fixed in the next release. I just started on that edit, but should have it done in a couple days. Any other requests that make it in that I can squeeze in before the 15th will get added too.

Thanks again to everyone for your support!
