BitLife inaccessible now?

Hi everyone. Is it just me, or has BitLife just became inaccessible all of a sudden? Today I tried playing it after a long break, only to discover that VoiceOver won't read anything.

Essentially, direct touch is not respected, and since you can’t turn on accessibility without VoiceOver as a workaround, it is, for all intense and purposes, inaccessible.

i noticed same thing i can' play after reinstalling app still no good :(

I thought native screen reader support was going to b a thing in unity programs now or was that just a thing that people lied to us about. So far I've seen no games that takes advantage of this at all! To be quite honest I don't even know why devs chooses to use this accessibility plugin because let's be frank. Buggy as hell. plus that thing, as far as I know has not been updated in ages. The only version of that plugin that's fantastic is the one in dawncaster but that's because devs modded that plugin to hell and back just to make it work like it's suppose to. I wish that version of the plugin could be pushed to the original dev's main branch but I don't see that happening nor do I see the dev of the plugin updating it anymore when they know it needs work. With that being said, I'm glad said plugin exists and that was a great easy start for devs to make unity games accessible cross platform but honestly at this point in time there is way better ways to handle shit and more modern I might add. Especially when you have supposedly screen reader support?

There's another liffe simulator game on here called life opop. You can do way more in it than Bitlife. From day one, the decs made it work with voiceover, and are very responsive to feedback.

By Tristo on Sunday, May 10, 2026 - 23:28

I haven't played BitLife in weeks. LifePop is better anyway.

By Lucky101 on Monday, May 11, 2026 - 00:59

I’ve been playing a life sim called FateBoundVI.
It has a simple interface and the developer is receptive to voiceover feedback.
It’s different than than bitlife and lifepop cause you can reincarnate into a fantasy world where you can play an elf etc.
Here’s the link

I am really liking this so far, I had tried life pop as well but I think this one's better.

Not sure what kind of job I'm applying for, or what is required for the job. That area still needs some work in my opinion. Also, the developer should label avatar options, like skin tone and hair color.

By Jonathan Candler on Monday, May 11, 2026 - 16:31

Is this one brand new? I've only heard about this just now Lol.

By Lucky101 on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 - 01:36

It’s two weeks old.
I did tell to label the skin tones but he said they were there for decoration that they would look into it.
As for the jobs, vo won’t tell you that it selected the job even if you did.

So far, I think this is a cool life sim. I like how after death, you can choose to continue on as a family member or go into another life completely. I chose to become an elf after I died in the life I'd started. But it seems like after you enter a fantasy world, you can't do much other than age up, unless I'm missing something. Somebody please help me on this.

By Lucky101 on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 - 00:04

That’s correct. You can’t do anything yet. The dev is working on it and won’t have it ready til June if I remember correctly.

I was wondering what Vetlife was and how to play It. I am new to the mac and only have had it for a number of months now.

Is the direct touch issue a voiceover bug or an issue with the game itself?

By DMNagel on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 - 05:22

Apparently, voiceOver doesn't respect the unity plug-in's direct touch, so I'm not sure who is supposed to get the blame. Unity no longer make updates anyway, so I feel like blaming unity for now, though I suppose it can also be argued both ways.

I really like LifePop, but one thing I wish we could do was add our contacts to the list of custom people, so they'd appear as random characters in the game like we could in bitlife. Maybe I'll suggest it on discord, it can't hurt. :)

By Leela on Saturday, May 30, 2026 - 04:47

I do love life pop, but bit life has it's charm. I hope they fix the accessibility on this soon.

By strawberryCupcake on Monday, June 15, 2026 - 02:44

Hey everyone. I wanted to mention that I reached out to the bitlife support team when this became an issue beginning with bitlife version 3.23.6, which was back in april. The dev team is aware of this issue and is working to fix it asap. They also responded to a comment on someone's reddit post on this exact same topic which tagged the bitlife team. If you've been around bitlife for a while you would've known that this isn't the first time they've had accessability issues, and those were usually fixed in about 3 months or so. I'm hoping that it gets fixed soon because it still has its charm for sure.
As for lifePop, I actually tried that life simulator a couple days ago and it seems fun, but i kept getting popups that my device has been hacked. Has anyone who's played lifePop gotten these? I'm not sure if they're scams or not, and if my device truely is hacked, that's a huge problem for the app being on the app store

By Leela on Monday, June 15, 2026 - 15:21

Those popups are actually ads. Google won't do anything about the amount of scammers buying ad space on their platform. I got so annoyed with this, I ended up paying for youtube premium.

By Jonathan Candler on Monday, June 15, 2026 - 16:30

Do not ever click on adds. And no, not a scam. I'm in touch with the dev and they migrating over to unity as we speak

By treky fan on Monday, June 15, 2026 - 21:15

I for one, love this game. I hope things aren't broken when the dev moves over to unity.

By strawberryCupcake on Saturday, June 20, 2026 - 18:42

Jonathan, if you see this please clarify. I was not meaning to imply that the app itself is a scam, just the popups that appear, which can be problematic because why would that consistantly appear?

By Jonathan Candler on Saturday, June 20, 2026 - 22:53

Oh sorry. Yeah my bad. I thought ya meant the app. I'm not seeing adds at all here but that could be cause I payed for the full thing? Even if I get adds on any app, I never click on anything. Just the close button if there is one and if I can find it.

By treky fan on Sunday, June 21, 2026 - 04:45

Has anybody heard anything about the unity migration and when it might be completed? I’m testing lifepop, and so far, there hasn’t been a release posted to test flight in a while. In the last update that was released, the dev broke the ability to have or adopt children. That was about a month ago and this still hasn’t been fixed.

By treky fan on Sunday, June 21, 2026 - 04:52

Hi. That popup saying your device has been hacked is a scam. Don't click on it. Close the app from your app switcher and reopen it. Why apple would allow this kind of add that's clearly designed to trick users into installing something nasty on their devices is beyond me. I've seen this add in a few apps. The first time I got it, I just about had a panic attack. My dad looked at the screen and said it was clearly something designed to get me to install something bad on my device.

By techlover418 on Sunday, June 21, 2026 - 20:50

I just tried to play BitLife on Android, and it is still accessible there. It is a bit slow, but that might be because I'm on an older device. Have a nice day

By strawberryCupcake on Friday, July 17, 2026 - 06:22

Hey everyone. Thanks for the info about the popup. I don't get them now but i wanna know if anyone else is having issues with this. Lifepop got updates recently and the second most recent one fixed some of the issues from last month's update, including the bug where you couldn't have children, but the touch feedback was ocassionaly slow. I thought they would fix it in yesterday's update but i recently updated the app today and the unity migration has seemed to break the game because now my screen goes blank and all i see is the status bar. Is anyone else having issues with this?

By treky fan on Friday, July 17, 2026 - 16:20

I know the dev had to migrate to unity, why that is, I don't know. I think the game was far better before the migration. Now the game seems to be hard to use with voiceover, things just seem cluttered, and overall, I think the migration to unity was a bad move on the dev's part.

By techlover418 on Friday, July 17, 2026 - 18:37

I had the same issue, but it fixed itself after I closed the app a few times.

By DMNagel on Friday, July 17, 2026 - 18:49

LifePop started with a bang, and went out with a whimper. I guess I will have to make my own life sim with lovable now.

By Ornella on Saturday, July 18, 2026 - 02:16

I haven't touched bitlife in a while so I can't say if i experienced these issues you all are having but life pop i go on and off of it and today when I opened the app I can't do nothing. I closed it out and reopened it and same thing. When something is to good to be true it really isn't. Like playing with the native voice over is fine, why break it. On older phones games that used the unity plugin had massive lag to the point where my hand would hurt playing it and now on the newer phone, since bitlife jumped over to using that and 3d the focus keeps jumping a lot and if you want to read way back in your journal you can't. Well I will have to hope that I can find a really good life sim to play that's accessible and we know how much luck we get with even finding that.

By treky fan on Saturday, July 18, 2026 - 16:53

Once lifeopop started breaking on us, I started looking for another option and came across fatbound VI. It works with voiceover, no problems. You start out as you normally would, but when you die in a life, you have the option of living on as something else. Right now, I'm living as an elf.

By Ornella on Sunday, July 19, 2026 - 00:51

All our favorite life sims are going down hill sadly so will see how this one works out for me. I wished if I could get to play a game like township. Mostly with endless stuff to do with out running out of options. I have been looking for fast food sims and supermarket sims but obviously, none are accessible for us to play.
