Ad Blockers for Safari on macOS?

macOS and Mac Apps

Hi all,

My Windows laptop is in for repair, so I am using my Mac full-time for the time being. Which is no bad thing, because there is a lot I like and I want to be more proficient on macOS than I currently am.

Anyway, on Windows I have gotten quite used to the much cleaner and more accessible browsing experience with an ad blocker, and I am wondering what, if anything, people use on macOS?

Thanks for any help.

I think it's called UboLite or something on the appstore? I don't know how effective it still is with all the manifest v3 thing from google but it was recommended to me from here 4-5 months ago and it works pretty well for my use case.

I use Brave browser on the mac and it works great, it even blocks YouTube videos. On Safari I use Gostery (forgive the spelling(, it works yet on your first run of Safari after installing the blocker you may need sighted assistant to turn it on.

Thanks for these recommendations. I use UBlock Origin on Windows and have been very happy with it, so if it's from the same developer, I think I will start there.

I use Wipr on iOS, and am really happy with it. The dev is also mindful of accessibility.

I use Adguard for Safari on my iPhone and Macbook using Safari. I like it.

These are two handy dandy Safari extensions for blocking all sorts of ads. when i acquired them, they were $3.99 each Canadian, on the mac and iOS app stores. .
