help needed with generation 1 RayBan glasses

When I turned my glasses on a few days ago to check for updates I heard the battery level and the noise that meant the glasses were listening for a command, but when I said "hey meta" and asked a question all I heard was the glasses shutting down as if they weren't listening anymore.

A couple of friends said that they've been experiencing this lately as well but is this a bug that we need to see if the next update solves or is there something else I can do to make the glasses usable again?

Thanks.

If you are experiencing, would I believe you are experiencing, the only workaround I have found is to keep my case plugged in. For some reason, if you have the Meta AI app running on your smart phone, and you fold your glasses up and put them inside the case, and you check the Meta AI app on your smart phone, it will say something like, "Meta glasses charging, battery X%". However, after a while, you may try to put your glasses on, only to find that your glasses battery is actually at 0% and they need to be charged.. again.

The best way to prevent this is to keep your case plugged in whenever you're going to actually charge your glasses, then, once the Meta AI app says your glasses are charged, you should be able to take the glasses out of the case and use them like normal.

I hope this helps and that I have explained things clearly enough.

I'll try this but I experienced what I described twice, the first time after it had been a while since I had used the glasses and at that time the battery charge was at 82% I think it was so I used the charger to plug them in and when I tried them the next day the same thing was still happening.

I was having that problem, even with my brand new Gen 2 Oakleys. I removed the OOryan app, and my metas are performing as they are meant to.
Some have just disconnected OOryan from the glasses, and that might work, but the point of having OOryan for me was specifically to use it with the glasses.

Hopefully compatibility improves. I know the developer is aware and is working on the problem.

I just recently installed the Oorion app but I haven't used it; I opened it and okayed all the access it asked for though so I'll uninstall it and see if that solves the problem.

Thanks Louise, I removed the Oorion app and as you said my glasses work as expected now.

I had a similar problem the other day and ended up rebooting my phone which seemed to solve it.

I still have oorion installed. I last tried it a couple of weeks ago and it gave me an error when I tried to use it with the glasses, so I had to walk around the house holding out my phone looking in vain for my border terrier like some kind of caveman. Pretty sure the glasses had been working in the meantime though. If oorion is causing the problem probably closing it then rebooting the phone may be enough.

I will try this.

By rebooting the phone do you mean by holding the power and one of the volume buttons in until the phone turns off?

I'll need to reinstall oorion as well because the other day when someone in this thread indicated they were having the same problem as I had I uninstalled it. Once I reinstall it though is there anywhere I can read up on how to use it?

I just asked Siri to restart my phone, so not sure what the shortcut is.

Not sure about a guide for Oorion. I haven't used it much, but typically I say something like "hey orion, find my border terrier" and it then will keep saying things like "no border terrier here" until it eventually finds her. (Or not - my dog can just disappear into the ether when I'm trying to feed her for some annoying reason). It does sometimes say things like "I see a dog but it looks more like a Labrador" (yes of course the Labrador is around when it's feeding time) It did successfully find my cat though which I was impressed with. Sometimes it gets a little confused between left and right but it seems good at getting you in the right general area at least. I think with the Meta SDK still being in beta a few little quirks here and there should be expected. I think like with all these AI things, you just have to mess about and see what works. If in doubt, just ask and see what happens. I was also able to ask it read out all text it sees. Shaun on Double Tap Shaun was asking something like "Tell me if you spot any cars on the pavement", but you need to be careful with mobility things that you don't rely entirely on it.

Thanks Mr Grieves that should help.

I forget about using siri to do anything besides opening apps for me so I either forgot or never knew that I can reboot that way. I even forget that I can hang up a call with siri. I've had an iPhone for like 15 years but I guess I'm still not used to what the technology can do.
