Hi my name is Adam, and I have created a word game, with voice over the number feature in mind whilst being developed.
Im also the Developer of Pixel Bowling, and would love to thank all for the support and feedback on the game, I read all the comments and tried my best to learn voice over so I could make it as easy to play as possible.
Now with my new game I built with voice over in mind from the beginning and have had some testing done, by some previous testers and they say it's 100% ready to play.
I hope they are correct, because we are about to find out,
Its a real thinking game, it seems hard, but once the answer is revealed you will think, why didn't I think of that.
Connect them
A cosy daily word puzzle. Find the word that finishes one and starts the other. Over 1,500 links, no ads, and it reads beautifully with VoiceOver.SUN … FLOWER … POT
One word sits in the middle and finishes them both. That's the whole game.
Connect Them is a cosy word puzzle about the links hiding between everyday
words. , no adverts. Just you,
a warm cup of a puzzle, and a small owl called Otto who wears reading glasses
and means well.
THREE WAYS TO PLAY
Daily — five links, once a day. Build a streak, then share the result without
spoiling a single answer.
Blitz — two minutes on the clock. How many can you link before it runs out?
Cozy Endless — no clock at all. Keep going until three slip past you.
OVER 1,500 PUZZLES
Every link is a real compound word or a phrase people actually say, checked
against real-world usage rather than pulled from a dusty dictionary. The Daily
walks a fixed order, so nothing repeats until you've seen everything — more
than a year of puzzles.
EARN YOUR HINTS
Hints cost corn, and corn is earned by playing well. Solve without help and
you're paid more. String answers together and the bonuses grow. Come back
tomorrow and there's more waiting. Stuck is always temporary.
BUILT TO BE HEARD
Connect Them was designed with VoiceOver in mind from the start, not bolted on
afterwards.
• Every puzzle, button and score reads clearly with VoiceOver
• Results, hints and corn are announced as they happen
• Focus moves to each new puzzle automatically
• The answer submits itself on the last letter — no hunting for a button
• Extra time in Blitz when a screen reader is running, so the clock is fair
• Prefer to play with your eyes closed? Turn on Read Puzzles Aloud and the game
narrates every clue in its own voice, at a speed you choose
NO ADVERTS. NO IN-APP PURCHASES. NO ACCOUNT.

sounds interesting
I love word games, I look forward to checking this out.
love it!
This game is really fun, and the sound effects and music are very charming. I have one piece of feedback: I wish it were possible to enter the letters into a text field so that I could play with my braille display, instead of having to swipe through all the letters. Thanks for this great game, and for making accessibility a priority!
Very fun!
This is a great brain teaser, and I love the atmosphere! Will absolutely make this a part of my mourning game routine alongside NYT games. Seconding the request to make it possible to type into a text field as I would like to use braille screen input
Braille input
Oh I never thought of Braille, how silly of me, Ok hold my Beer, ive never worked with adding Braille with development so a quick lesson is in need, But ill update you all, when its added and live. thanks for the amazing feedback and suggestion .
@Adam
Hi Adam, I'm not a developer and not a gamer (just a moderator here). But reading this, I think it should just be a matter of adding a standard text field that people can type into, be it with the onscreen keyboard, an external keyboard, braille display, or anything else.
@Michael Hansen
Thanks, yes I have worked it out and an update has been submitted. Now waiting for the slow review process, or quick depends. Thank you.
I'm already addicted to this game!
I literally just bought this game about 10 minutes ago, and I'm already addicted to it. I can understand why people would want an edit field to type in, but I actually like the game's keyboard as is, so I hope it's still possible to use it. Word games are always fun to me, and this is a rather unique one. Thank you very much for creating it and making it 100 percent Voiceover friendly.
@Missy Hoppe
thank you so much glad you enjoying the game, Yes both options for input and keyboard will be in the next update, there will be a toggle in the setting to choose your preference, Games keyboard is default and Braille input can be turned on via settings.
you do not want me to hold your beer
I would not only hold it, I would drink it for you. I've played only 1 round, scoring 225 points. I can't wait for the next update, including the ability to use a Bluetooth keyboard. Game play will be much faster. Word games like this drive me nuts, but I now have one that really works good on my iPhone. This game is just as much fun as Pixel Bowling is. I have a suggestion for that game. How can I get it to you? I don't see anywhere to make suggestions from within the game. Keep up the good work!
@charles
Thank you for the feedback appreciate it, you can always email at [email protected] And im always up for suggestions and requests, whether I can fulfil them is one thing, but I will try.
I love this game as well
I downloaded this earlier today and love it. I scored 400 points from today's puzzle. I will most definitely be playing this every day, as I do with Pixel Bowling. I'm looking forward to what you will come up with next.
had an issue
I bought the game and just tried playing. Unfortunately, when I tried to enter the letters, it kept saying try again. So I lost even though I knew the answer (and would have gotten it right). Anyone else have this problem?
Finished the daily puzzle...
with 800 points. This game is addicting!
@Alicia Krage
If you can remember the words and the answer you trying to fill in, I can take a look and see if its a Bug or error. Also a quick Tip, sometimes there are multiple words that may fit, but only one is correct, so thats where the game becomes tricky, and a hint used will help with knowing the first, second, letter to help identifying the answer. Thanks for playing.
@Brooke
Your just showing of Now. 800 is a great score.
@adam
I apologize. I was playing more of it today and didn't realize that when you select a hint, it inserts that first letter. So let's say the word was, like in the example, flower. If it says the first letter is F, and then I typed flower, it was inserting the F twice so that's why it wasn't working.
I love it! I played it so much today already and recommended it to a few friends. Thank you so much for putting VoiceOver users at the forefront of the design. That isn't something we see very often.
@Alicia Krage
Oh im glad to hear that , thank you very much.
@Paige @faerie
New Update is live, with options for input now. game keyboard is default, though in settings you can switch to input. Thank you for the feedback and hope this works well for you.
Fun game
Like others have said, thanks for the strong consideration of VoiceOver. Its a really taxing and fun game. I just downloaded it today and got 775 I think On the daily game.
I wonder is there an explanation somewhere of how the scoring works?
Cheers
Adam, you're quick!
That was fast! Just updated the app, and actually, the text field was default and not the game keyboard, which is what I wanted. I've enjoyed playing it the cozy endless way, I think it's called, although I second what Faerie said about adding this to my NYT Games routine. Only other one I do is wordle. I love a good word game!
Great game.
I agree with all of the comments that this is a great game. The text field works perfectly. It has been added to my games folder. Thanks.
Liking this
This game is pretty similar to the Daily Connection A lady skill which I've been playing pretty much every day for about 3 years, but it's just different enough to provide a new challenge, as well as allowing for more than one puzzle per day.
I'm liking the daily untimed puzzles - but I am absolutely terrible at Blitz mode because I'm pretty slow. I accidentally found that you can cheat in the blitz by locking your phone which then gives you as much time as you need, but that doesn't seem to be in the spirit of things.
I was reading above about the braille input - if this is just a text box I wonder if it will also allow dictation, as I would quite like to play this with voice.
@mr Grieves Yes dictation works, kind of
Thank You, glad your enjoying the unlimited modes.
And Yes dictation works, except if you use a hint, then it adds the word to the letter and will be incorrect. Speak your answer via input using keyboard dictation , then enter and it works fine. Any issues with dictation let me know and I will do my best to make it better.
Thanks everyone.
Thanks all for the awesome feedback and kind words,
Im really happy the game is working fine. Any updates or features you think would benefit let me know nd I'll do my best to incorporate them.
Would also appreciate some ratings on the store to let other users browsing the store how it is, if you have time, that would be great. and now on to the next game for you All.
Let's nominate Adam for 1 of our awards
Subject says it all, @adam. I'm a word-game-aholic & I'll be going to check this out in a rocket hurry as I have some money in my Paypal account just begging to be spent on a cool word/logic game. Thank you. 1 of the numerous hard things about being blind is that we're so often not included in recreational opportunities open to others. You're a rock star!
I second this
I 100 percent agree with this, yes.
Re: Dictation
I got the update now and it switched to a regular keyboard. I found when dictation works, it's great. But I would say it only works a quarter of the time if that. Quite often I will go to dictate, speak the word, end dictation and seemingly nothing happens. Although one time I spoke something like "special" and somehow "no" but entered into the box. So I've found as it stands now it's not really usable for some reason. I'm still enjoying the game, though - this was just a nice to have.
I should say I tried both magic tap (2 finger double tap) to start dictation , and also the dictate button but both were the same.
I also came across a answer that was a little on the rude side - well, maybe it is only in the UK. But it was "right" blank "job". I'll leave the word to your imagination. When I was thinking of the answer, I thoguht "surely not?" but was surprised when it worked. It made me laugh anyway.
Wow!!
Thanks for mentioning that... um... questionable one. I will be careful not to play this with my 10-year-old nephew just in case!
@mr Grieves oh my.
thanks for pointing that one out, Yes it could read different across different countries, and users thoughts, Ill need to remove that one, and I better check the rest of my words whilst im there.
@Able Tec
Your to kind.
Reality is I have been making games and apps for ten years now, And Christmas I decided to retire from my full time work and focus just on making games and apps. but also I needed something more to keep my mind turning over, and learning new things, voice over and accessibility was the first topic suggested to me , via one of the community members here via Reddit, when they asked me if I could make Pixel Bowling accessible to vision impaired users. And was a great learning curve and also came with a bigger reward than anything. Seeing the comments and feedback of users that really appreciate it is more than any rating and review on any other game or app I have ever made. Thats Award right there.
Android?
One request, I have the game on GooglePlay, and I can not find testers, well I have and they have played it but no feedback from them, so if anyone here knows anyone with android, I would love to get feedback on the accessibility on android, as I hav not tested it, but also I have not displayed on the store about voice over accessibility either just incas. thanks.
the questionable word
Hon Hilarious, cracked me up when I read that.estly, nothing wrong with an adults only game lol.
New Update
Ok went through to find any questionable words that could be made. actually found a couple. oops. I did remove those ones, I thought it would be interesting if someone was on bus and voice over was reading them out, what the passengers would think? But removed them, hopefully safe around the young ones now.
